Chapter 54

There was almost a calm chaos that surrounded the castle as werewolves from all parts of the world flittered in and out through the doors. There was so many scents and movement I felt slightly overwhelmed.

"Can you believe so many werewolf's have met their mates already!" A young girl said excitedly to another walking next to her.

"I know, Layla met hers as well! We were talking abo-" There conversation faded as they moved past me, too caught up in their excitement to notice me standing a few meters away from them.

How poetic that we all are gathered here in the name of war and death and yet there is also so much of love being found and people's lives being changed not only for the worst.

It made me feel slightly better but I couldn't help but feel the heaviness of what's to come. I decided to continue on my way and as I stopped to greet people and to make sure they were all fine and had what they needed I couldn't help but notice all the youthful faces.

There were so many young werewolves who were going to be fighting. No children of course but so many just entering their prime that it continued to make my heart sore.

As I stepped outside and into the snow I wasn't surprised to see a number of fires already lit and people milling about. It was just as chaotic as inside, worse even.

I moved through the tents and spoke with a few more people, some recognised me as the Queen Luna and immediately bowed and rushed to speak with me others were to occupied with there tasks to notice.

I spent hours speaking to as many people as I could and helping where ever I could. I was currently helping a mother of five little pups unpack and settle down into one of the tents.

"Romano, get back here with those! You haven't had supper  yet!" Aura, his mother yelled as he grabbed a packet of sweets from the bags and dashed outside. I laughed as I watched him run from the tent, his laughter leaving a trial behind him.

I turned to his three brothers who had all stopped what ever they were doing to watch as Romano the youngest run away. They were all grinning and it was only their oldest sister, Lara who was eleven who had her arms crossed over her chest, a stern expression on her face.

"Mamma is so going to kill him." She said as she turned to look as her little brothers.

Fortunately, Romano returned still alive, Aura carrying him in her arms. The packet of sweets were no where to be seen but little Romano had dusts of sugar all around his mouth and on his fingertips.

I had to keep in my snicker as I watched his little mischievous, satisfied face in his mother's arms.

"Luna, I pray to the Goddess you never have a little mischief maker like him." She said as she looked down at Romano, who merely grinned up at her. I could see she was trying to be stern with him but failing as any one would. He was just too darn adorable to stay mad at.

We continued unpacking and soon everything was done and the family was all settled in. Aura thanked me multiple times and I kept telling her it was no trouble at all and from there I continued to move from one tent to the next.

Time was flying and soon every one began to get ready for the honour feast. I made my way back into the castle and tried to navigate my way towards Xavier's floor but I would go ten paces and then someone would stop me to speak with me. I didn't mind it but when I finally arrived at our bedroom I was exhausted.

I quickly had a bath and got dressed. When a werewolf dies, we don't just mourn them, we honour them. We celebrate the lives they lived, we remember everything they did and who they were as werewolves. We also don't wear black like how they humans do, we wear white.

White is the Moon Goddess colour, it also represents peace, as we want the souls to go peacefully.

As I descended the staircase, I almost tripped on my silky gown and had to catch myself quickly. I heard a snicker and pinpointed who it came from with narrowed eyes. Xavier leaned against a wall, his eyes following my every move, eating me up as I went down the last few stairs.

I walked over to him and before I could do anything he grabbed me around my waist and pulled me into his chest. He bent his head and whispered into my neck, his hot breath tickling my neck, "do you know what I was thinking about?"

I told him I didn't and he chuckled again and said, " I was thinking about the first time I saw you." My face immediately flamed red as I remembered the embarrassing moment.

"Oh, that explains the snickering then. Gods I can't believe that is how you first saw me. You must have wanted to run for the hills." I said with a small smile as I remembered the entire thing. My hideous pyjamas, the popcorn and basically just the whole thing.

"Yes, I was surprised but the last thing I ever wanted to do was run for the hills." He chuckled softly and lifted his head so that his eyes stared into mine.

"I ran straight to you, the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on who instantly became the love of my life."

I just stared at him, my body humming with love for him. I went onto my tippy toes and brought his face slightly down and kissed him softly.

He drew me closer to his warm body and kissed me back. I pushed myself even closer into him, wanting nothing but to get as close as possible to him. He broke away from our kiss and I pouted in protest.

Xavier noticed my pout and pecked my lips.

"Did I tell you that you look absolutely breathtaking." I blushed and shook my head at him. I don't know why he thought so, all I had on was this white silky dress, natural looking makeup and my hair was loose.

"I like your hair when it's down." He said as he absentmindedly played with a loose strand.

"Did I tell you how handsome you look." I said smiling up at him. He really did, he was wearing a white suite that just highlighted his stormy grey eyes and his dark hair even more.

Xavier was going to say something but Sebastian's loud voice stopped him.

"There you two are, everyone is waiting inside the hall." I turned around and grabbed Xavier's hand so that we could get going.

Sebastian shamelessly looked me up and down and I held onto Xavier's hand tighter so that he wouldn't do anything rash.

"My lady, you take my breath away." He said as he waited for us to reach him.

Xavier growled threateningly, his eyes flashing.

"Xavier, he's just saying it to annoy you, relax." I mind linked him, trying to get him to not fall for it.

"If he keeps looking at you like that, I am going to gauge his eyes out." Xavier seethed.

"Sebastian, thank you for calling us. I hope everyone hasn't been waiting for too long." I said trying to make conversation and get Sebastian to stop making Xavier mad before Xavier really does gauge his eyes out. I wouldn't  put it past Xavier to do so.

"Not at all Your Highness." He said smiling at me.

We quickly entered and seated ourselves. Xavier made a toast to the fallen and after he did, multiple more werewolves, mostly from the pack that had lost so many made some more. Afterwards the food was served and the hall descended into pleasant chatter.

I was halfway finished with my meal when Xavier leaned down and said, "I was just informed that Killian has returned."

I had food in my mouth so I just nodded and was about to continue eating when he continued.

"I want you to meet with him tomorrow. He is going to continue to train you but it's going to be different."

"Different, how so?"

"Just different, you aren't going to like it."
