Chapter 51

"Have you ever walked past a homeless person .. well in this case did you ever walk past me and think , thank god I'm not like them ?" Clem asked with a chuckle as she tried to miss ever crack on the sidewalk . Minnie nodded and listened very carefully .
"' I would never let that happen to me' that's what I said to myself but then it did." The small teen paused as her smile faded as her breathing began to become slower .
"It feels like your Whole world shuts down , your journey has no purpose , you have no purpose ."

Minerva was all ears , she couldn't believe the girl that's boarded up herself was being so open and expressive . Clem continued after a few steady breaths .
"I didn't sleep the first night , or the second . I just wandered aimlessly around town with a few pound notes in my pocket . When all that money was gone , I started to steal ; steal tubes of toothpaste so I could brush my teeth with my fingers , steal a couple notes from rich people , sometimes even other homeless people ."

"You stole from my sister .. so you could go to school ?" Minerva asked , making Clem twitch ashamed .

"I thought if I got good grades in school , I could get a good job and build my way to the top again ." Clem explained , her tone serious and cold ; like it used to be .
"But I needed the uniform , that's where Sophie's money helped me out ."

Minerva started to notice how difficult it was to explain for Clem so she stopped her immediately.
"It's ok Clem . You don't have to say any more . I'm sorry for asking you ." The red head apologised as she placed a reassuring hand onto the girl's shoulder .

"It's alright ." Clem smiled , finally looking up from the ground to face Minnie .
"Are we here yet ?"

Minerva suddenly stopped and nodded her head towards a brick house . The front door was just under the balcony that hung over a few garden tables and chairs . Clementine analysed the structure and planned out a way to get in .
"Where's Ruby's Bedroom ?" She asked , Minerva pointed to a window that was way too high to climb . Clem wouldn't even be able to reach it if she jumped from the balcony . The small teen sighed as she started to climb up to the balcony .

"Clem what are you doing ?" Minerva whispered , trying not to wake anyone up .
"Use the front door ."

"Ruby .. doesn't know that I stole .. from her . I'd like to keep it that way ."
Clem pulled herself up and over the railings ; she held her hand out to the red head with a smile .
"Are you coming ?"

Minerva checked left and right down the empty streets before taking the olive skinned girls extended arm . Clem heaved her onto the balcony and placed a finger over her lips , gesturing for Minnie to be quiet . Clem gently pressed down on the handle to the balcony doors , crossing her fingers as she hoped they weren't locked . To her wishes , they weren't .
"What are the odds." The small girl muttered to herself as she opened the doors silently . She moved the curtains out of the way which revealed the bedroom that belonged to Ruby's parents .
