Chapter 17

I kept walking in whatever direction my feet lead. I turned and there is no sign of the bonfire or of anyone around. I sit in the sand and bring my knees up.

why? How? Everything was going good I finally got back home everything with Michael was going perfect I would have never imagined Michael doing that to me or my best friend dating the guy I had a thing with for a day. Luke isn't even Anna's type! She likes nerdy guys!

I lean my forehead to my knees and close my eyes.

"Hey" I hear a voice say

I slowly open my eyes and turn around all I could see was a dark body, there wasn't much light so I couldn't see who it was

I stared at the person and turned back to the ocean.

"Are you okay?" They asked

If I said no the person would start questioning if I say yes they will go away "I'm okay" I manage to say

"Are you sure?" They asked

I nodded "just thinking"

I herd the persons steps getting closer each time

I felt them sit near me

"My name is Eric" he says

I turn to look at him , I can now see his face and clothing

"I'm Jacqueline" I say

He nodded "you know it's not so safe to be out here at this time with no one around "

I shrugged "don't care not like stuff could hey worst right now"

"Bet" he says

"Wh-what?" I got scared I didn't see that coming

"Didn't you hear of the girl who came to think here around this time and got kidnapped or something like that she never returned home and people around here heard screams"

"I don't- I just "

He starts laughing "I'm kidding but you never know what could happen though, maybe in the kidnapper"

"Maybe" I smile

"Is anyone picking you up or do you want a ride or something"

I shake my head "no I don't want to go home right now"

From afar I see flashlights getting closer

My body is frozen at just the thought that that could be either Michael or Luke

"Looks like they're looking for someone " Eric says

I quickly get up as I see the flashlights getting closer

"I have to go nice meeting you!" I start rushing to the boardwalk

No open bathroom

No food place

Perfect just perfect

I turn my phone on to see the time and the number of messages and phone calls + voicemails is ridiculous I just turn it back off

I kept walking , crossing streets I don't even know where to I just try finding an open place

The night gets windy and colder

My skin getting colder each step I take

I see a gas station open and rush in

I search my purse for my wallet and get a drink

"I'll pay it right now but can I use the restroom plz?"

The man nods and points to the bathroom

"Thanks " I rush in and lock the door

I stand in front of the mirror and see The mess that I am

I start crying uncontrollably , after minutes of crying I wash my face and calm down a bit

I walk out and bump into a girl with a baby in her arms "I'm so sorry" I say

"It's okay "

I stare at the baby she's beautiful

"How old is she? She's gorgeous"

The girl smiles"thank you, she's one and a half"

I nod "well she's beautiful " I say

"Thanks" the baby smiled showing her baby teeth

I laugh and walk to the cash register and pay my drink

As I walk out I see a familiar car I just can't remember from where

I start walking quickly making sure I don't get noticed

I felt someone grab my arm lightly

"Jackie"

I turn around and see Ashton

"What are you doing here " I say

"You can't head off like that because you're hurt and mad Jackie this is seriously dangerous and you know that" he let's go of me and sands awkwardly

"Come on let me take u to go get something to eat " he takes off his jacket and puts it around me

I struggle to decide whether it not to go with him

"It's fine I can take you anywhere you want but I'm not leaving you alone" he says

I nod and get in his car

He gets in and drives off

"I know what your boyfriend did is messed up but fuck him it's his loss"

I nod "his loss" for some reason I feel a little more calmed after crying my eyes out

"and lu-"

"don't" I say

He nods and turns the radio on

We get to a pizza place and get down

"just relax okay?" He says

He leads me to a table and sure there is Luke sitting down waiting for us

I try to walk away but Ashton holds my waist and leads me to the booth

"I told you to relax" he says in my ear

I sit quietly and feel Luke's eyes on me
