Dine with me

There's something about luncheons and dinners that attract me. It doesn't always have to be some glamorous get-together, if there's good food, count me in. You could have something as traditional as the African pounded corn meal or something as exotic as croissants. If it's free, I might as well be the first one seated at the table.

In my not so perfect African home, I was alwaystaught to observe good table etiquette. To this day, I still don't understandwhy I'd have to eat with so much fear. I'd chew chicken pieces with such kinglymodesty that you'd doubt if the poor species of fowl landed in my stomach. Itdidn't matter much to me anyway. I ate, and it was delicious.

My mother would have my younger siblings and Iclean up after ourselves before having dinner. I also never understood that. Itseemed a little too complicated to enjoy dinner. We weren't a fancy family perSE, there's just certain things we would have to do if we wanted to remainstrongly connected to the family. On the other hand, my father just wanted uswell fed. Really, it wasn't in his jurisdiction to know whether or not we hadbathed before dinner. If my homework was done, I could get as dirty as a pig,but of course I couldn't. Unless I wanted to go off living in seclusion andbereft of parental care.

We don't always get a chance to know why we need to do certain things. I know sometimes life makes us super curious. I'm in my early twenties, and I still don't know why my parents had me to do what I did. All I know is; it was for my good. Whether or not I understood it.

Jesus Christ came in order that we find our salvation. He came packaged with all we'd need. He came with everything. Jesus is the allin one and one in all. He is like a collection of movies compressed in one DVD.He stars in all the movies, holding the same stature as both King and a babethat had salvation interlocked within Him.

I know sometimes Jesus' story seems too good to be true. Born of a virgin? Really? That happened? Isn't amazing how He was born of a virgin and yet existed before the beginning of time? In the first chapter of John, we are made to know that everything we see was created through Him. (See John 1:3)

Why do I keep talking about Jesus like the whole world revolves around Him? The truth is, it does. Jesus is the axis on which everything revolves. He is the bridge that connects mankind to God the Father. Without Him, you cannot know the God the Father as much as you know God the son.

John 10:30 New Living Translation (NLT)

30 The Father and I are one."

Jesus is the oneness in the Father as the Father is in Him. The two are inseparable. Jesus was sent on a mission. To have you and I at His bosom. So He invites each and every person to Himself. He sends invitation cards. There's a dinner and the only requirement is making ourselves available to Him.
