You wouldn't if they were evil.
Many folktales and folklore talk about beings that resemble you. They can mimic your looks, your voice, your actions. They are basically your twin. These beings are referred to as one's "shadow self." The Germans call these "doppelgängers," which translates to "evil twin."
These harbingers of evil spell certain doom for their twins. Of course, they don't always want to kill you right away. Sometimes, they want to mentally and socially destroy you before they end you.
