Jun has been your friend for over five years and had recently developed feelings for him. He had asked you out before but he had to leave for tour so what came close was video calls. He said he was gonna be gone for a couple of months so that date had to wait.

In the meantime, you had to focus on your college classes. Everything was a bit rocky since you were falling behind. Your grades were not so much better. For the past six weeks you've been studying nonstop. Whenever you talk to Jun over the phone, he helps you as much as he can until he has to go.

More than five months have passed. You were on your break as the New Years was coming. You had no plans. Your parents were spending their New Years at Hawaii and you didn't really have the money to go with them.

You were in your room, talking to Jun as you tried to figure out what movie to watch. He kept saying to watch a scary movie but you were never a fan of them. You decided to watch a comedy.

"I wish I was there."

"Well you can watch it through the screen. I can turn my laptop and you'll be able to watch it just fine", you said.

"That's not what I mean. I meant I wish I was there to spend the New Years with you. No one should spend it alone."

"But I'm not. I'm speaking with you and you don't need to worry. Your schedule is hectic right now. That's what you should focus on", you said.

"These video call dates aren't enough. They don't count-"

"They do for me. Look I know we haven't spent any time at all except for these calls but without them, I would've gone crazy. Just promise me you'll work hard and when you come back, we'll spend time together, okay", you smiled.

He sighed and nodded. Both of you watched the movie until you fell asleep.

The next day was New Years Eve. You decorated the house just to have it more lively and less dark. You tried calling Jun but he wouldn't answer. You were wondering if he was busy or hanging out with his friends. You put your laptop aside and cooked some breakfast.

A few hours later, you tried calling Jun again but he didn't answer. You were about to call him again but there was a knock at the door. You went over to open it and gasped as you saw Jun right in front of you, holding flowers.

"Jun?? What are you doing here??", you asked, smiling as you hugged him.

"I wanted to surprise you. I told you no one should spend New Years alone. Now put your sweater on. I need to take you somewhere", he smiled.

"Ooooooh, where??", you asked, jumping excitedly.

"It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you. Now come on", he chuckled.

During the drive, he kept glancing at you. You felt a bit nervous and shy. He extended his arm over to you and held your hand, giving it a light squeeze.

He parked his car near the park, noticing there was a picnic-like area surrounded by small lights and fake candles. There was soft music playing.

"What's this?", you asked as he helped you out of the car.

"I promised you a date. It's New Year's Eve so why not start off with a very special and memorable one?", he smiled and lead you towards the blanket laid down on the floor.

Both of you sat down smiling at each other as Jun handed you some punch. He then placed a plate of delicious food right in front of you. You can tell he worked hard on making this perfect.

He talked about everything he did while traveling and even mentioned this one place he wants to take you. He placed the plates aside when you finished and sat closer to you. He held your hand and slightly nudged you, softly smiling as he noticed how red you got.

A song came on that caught his attention. He stood up and extended his hand forward.

"Dance with me", he said.

You nodded and held his hand. He pulled you up and placed his hands on your lower back while you placed your arms around his neck. You swayed back and forth as he stared into your eyes.

"You're so beautiful", he whispered.

"You always say that", you said.

"Well I mean it. I don't know how I got so lucky", he said, resting his forehead against yours.

You can hear people counting down from a distance. You looked up at Jun to find him smiling. He placed his hand under your chin and softly bit his lip. You had never kissed him before so you were afraid if he wouldn't think it's great. He can sense you were hesitating a bit.

"Ty not to think about it. Close your eyes. I'll do all the work", he said.

You closed your eyes. When the countdown finished, he connected his lips with yours. You can feel happiness run through your body. The fireworks above you made the atmosphere more romantic.

His hands made their way to your lower back, pulling you closer as he deepened the kiss. You didn't want it to end. But unfortunately it did. As he pulled away, both of you panted for air, not believing what just happened.

"Wow..is every first kiss like that?", you asked.

"Only if it's with the right person. Hopefully that's me. Don't want you to run away now, do we?", he softly smirked.

"That won't be a problem", you said.

"Happy New Year (y/n)", he smiled.

"Happy New Year", you said.
