The look on your face
As your eyes lay on me
My graceful, landing
I breathe, slowly, I see you with one of my eyes
Yes, I’m aware of your presence.
But are you aware of my delicateness
I shudder as you slowly approach me
My eyes, fixed on my beauty.
“Dear, Gods. What is this,”
You think to yourself
And I stare and think
“Shouldn’t this be what I’m thinking?”
“Some living creature staring at me.”
His weapon. Left at where he stood
What is this creature?
Why does he approach me?
Can’t he see,
That I’m hungry as can be?
I’m not here to
Take away any-thing
Of his,
I don’t believe.
“Gorgeous.” He says.
“A pity.”
I wonder, what he means.
As I glare,
If he knew
That I could take this moment
And take him too
His approach, would it have been?
I stare and wonder
As he reaches for me
His eyes full of delight and curiosity
I shudder
As I realize what he’s done
My missing front leg, is his only concern
“How did this happen?”
He ask, as if I knew how to say
I was born
Without it anyway
In response, I spread my wings
And I hiss
He holds up his arms to get a grip
Away, I go
And I search the land
For a snack at hand…
“I swear it!”
“Majestic!”
“Silver scales and magnificent wings!”
“Disabled, it only had three limbs!”
“You’re insane.”
“Boy, the Revelation isn’t now.”
“Not yet.”
“Nor ever.”
In reluctance, I’d imagine, your reaction.
No one will believe your eyes
But trust me,
I was there
In the action
And my right front limb, was never to be.
