Chapter 2

I throw a pillow away. "Phone, where are you?" My ringtone stops and now I don't have a clue where my phone is. "Fine. Then I will leave you there." I know that is impossible because I'm addicted to my phone in some way. After 5 minutes of searching and running, I see my phone, just laying in the center of the table. "I'm so stupid." I say to myself. I see Lia has called three times. I decide to call her back later, first I want my lunch.

"Kayla? Are you home?" I turn around to walk to the window so I can see who's there. "Yes?" I say, even before I can see who is standing by the door. "Can I come in?" I startle. I recognize this familiar voice. "Max! Is it you?!" I ask while running to the front door. "Yes of course it's me. Who else?" When I see his face I run towards him and jump into his arms. "I didn't expect you at all!" Max pull me up to his chest and hugs me. He's a lot taller then me so my feet can't touch the ground. He slowly pulls back and I can feel the floor of the corridor again. "I came back for you." Max winks and I punch him on his shoulder. Max is my best friend since the first year from high school. "Yes, you better did." I laugh. "Come in!"

"Here you go." I throw a coke to Max. I walk around the table to sit next to him. "And, how was Australia?" He smiles when he thinks back to it. "Amazing, really. If I knew how beautiful it was, before I left you, I would have kidnapped you!" Max was been in Australia for almost three years, I've missed him so much! "When did you came back?" Max walks to the couch. "I guess five days ago, otherwise I won't be here, because of my jet lag." I tease him. "And you didn't call me or told me at all?" "I wanted to surprise you." He laughs and looks away. "You sure did!" I answer quickly. We talked for the rest of the afternoon. Then I hear my ringtone again. "O Lia! I've totally forgotten to call her back!" I answer my phone. "Hi Lia!" "I've called you multiple times, why didn't you call me back?" "I'm so sorry! But guess who is with me now?" I try to hold my laugh, because Max is pulling the weirdest faces when he noticed I was talking about him. "I have no clue, tell me." She finally says. "Max! He's back already!" Max takes my phone out of my hand. "Hi Lia!" They talked for a few minutes. "Yes, it was nice to speak to you too!" He says and he gives my phone back. He points to the phone with his other hand and makes a silly face. I know Lia had a obvious crush for Max 3 years ago. I take the phone over. "And is it gone?" I whisper. I can hear Lia laughing. "Yes, of course. I have a new crush already, well kind of." I startle, she didn't told me that before! We always tell that kind of things to each other, even you don't know it for sure yourself. "Lia!" I scream a little bit too loud. Max raises his eyebrows. "I'll tell you later! I have to go now! Bye!" Lia disconnects. I throw my phone away. "It's time for dinner, don't you think?" He nods and start thinking about something. "I want to go and have some dinner elsewhere." I continue. "But there is one condition, I'll pay." I raise one eyebrow. "Why?" "Because I have English money again!" I laugh, he is such a weirdo. "Alright then!"

"This looks amazing!" I notice when I see my food. "Yes! And I guess it will taste amazing too." I hear a familiar voice and turn around. I see Zoe, two tables behind us. "Hi Zoe!" I wave and Zoe waves happily back. "Who is Zoe?" Max asks confused. "O, just a friend." A friend, really? You two aren't friends, Kayla. You've just met her. "I'm away for three years and I'm replaced already." "No of course not!" Max raise one eyebrow. "No! Please enjoy your food, at least I will!" I eat some of my chicken salad. Max was right, it tastes delicious!

I snooze my alarm, again. "It's so early!" I throw my legs out of my bed, in the hope the rest of my body will follow. "And why did I set my alarm at 7 am again?" I grab my phone and I see there is a mention. LIA'S BIRTHDAY. "O I've almost forgotten." I ring her number while getting back into my warm bed. "Hello?" A really sleepy voice answers the phone. I can hear that I've waked Lia. "Happy birthday Lia!" "O yea, that's true." Lia sighs so deep even I can hear it. "It sounds like you have forgotten it yourself!" I laugh and I straight my back. "Well, it's so early. Why didn't you call later today?" "Because I wanted to call you now. And once again, you are 2 years older than me." Lia is 24 now and my birthday is in January. I'm 22 now by the way. "Thanks Kayla, now I feel old." I shake my head and I get out of bed. "You are! You can go back to sleep now! I'm at your house at 9 pm." I wait for a moment. "Bye Lia!" I disconnect and I change clothes. I walk downstairs and I will go for a run, as usual.

I can hear my phone vibrate. I walk to the table with my breakfast. There is a message from Zoe. I'm still sweaty from running.

I don't have anything special to do today, maybe we can go somewhere together? Zoe xx

I like it to hang out with her. She seems really nice to me. I message her back.

Yea sounds like fun! What time would you like? Maybe 2 pm? Kayla x

"Hey, digital freak!" Max is sitting on the couch. "What? How did you...?" Max laughs evil. "I'm here for a solid 10 minutes, but you're so concentrated." I laugh and walk to him. He pulls me next to him. "How are you doing? Not the internet you, the real life you." I laugh and poke him. "I'm fine, and what about you?" "I'm good too. What are you going to do today?" He asks. "First I'm going to have a shower. Then I'm going to spend some time with you, I guess. And after that, I'm going to do something with Zoe and in the evening Lia and me are going to celebrate her birthday at a club." Max pulls a silly face that I really can't describe. "You're busy then." He laughs and rolls his eyes. "Yes normally I'm not, but today..." "No excuses and by the way, you were on your way to have a shower, right?" I laugh. "Yes, I was and I'll go then." I get of the couch and I run upstairs.

"Wow, I wish I had enough money to buy all of this!" Zoe runs into a makeup store and immediately grabs a few things from the shelves. "You're a little obsessed with makeup, aren't you?" We literally had to go in every makeup shop, because, maybe, there was thát one thing she definitely had to buy. After a few minutes Zoe comes from the back of the store with her hands full of makeup. "I'm ready!" "Jeez, Zoe! Are going to buy all of this?" She nods with a big smile on her face. "You probably don't have any makeup at home, I guess?" I laugh when she shakes her head really hard. "Tons! But I've never enough!" She walks to the cash desk. "I think it is time for lunch, don't you think? I'm super hungry." She asks. "Yes, I'm starving." I realize that I haven't finished my breakfast this morning. "Come on then!" Zoe is already outside. "You're just like Lia! Always in a rush, relax a bit! We have time enough!" I laugh. "No, if you want to 'relax', you don't have as much time as you could have for other things!" I walk towards her. "What about that place over there?" She says when I stand next to her. She points to a little shop at the other side of the street. "That looks really cute." I say and Zoe nods. "And the food is delicious!"

We both order some food. When our food receives, someone runs towards us. "Zoe Sugg?" Zoe laughs. "Yes, that's me!" I don't understand why these girls are coming to Zoe. "I'll tell you later!" Zoe says when she sees my confused face. "Can you maybe take a picture?" The girl asks. I don't understand but I take the picture and a few seconds later a picture of Zoe and the friend of that girl. "Well, nice to meet you!" "Likewise!" And the girl and her friend walk away.

"Okay, I really don't understand anything of this." Zoe laughs and takes quickly a bit of her drink. "You really haven't seen my youtube channel, have you?" I shake my head. "I've over 9 million subscribers. And I've been to a lot meetings, I've an award for UK Favorite Vlogger and so on." I have to try to keep my mouth closed. "Are you serious?" Zoe laughs and nods her head. "I hope you won't treat me different now?" I startle a little. "Of course not!" I laugh. But I'm definitely going to watch a video when I'm home. "Thank you, I was a bit worried about that and I was happy you didn't knew so I could have a 'normal' new friend." I smile to Zoe and she smiles softly back.
