Imagine: Sam working his first case after you died. It was over a month since the demon snapped your neck in front of the boys and Dean was tired of seeing Sam be so upset and having to hunt alone. He was hurt over your death too as you were like his little sister but he missed his brother. While they were on the hunt that Dean somehow managed to convince Sam to go on, he wasn't himself. He was angrier and so consumed in the hunt, it was worrying Dean.
Dean: "Sam? Are you ok?"
Sam: "fine. Why do you ask?"
Dean: "because you're so consumed in this case. I brought up finding the cemetery where the kid was buried and you were basically ready to steal Baby and go driving here yourself."
Sam: "you wanted me back so I'm back. There's a ghost killing people right now and I want to stop it. So I dig."
Dean: "do you want to talk about her?"
Sam: "there's nothing to say. She's gone. And I won't ever get her back again. So can you grab a shovel and come help me dig up this body? Please?"
