Rushing

She never thought she'd see him again. After that day she left him in the hospital, she never thought, she'd run into him, or that she would ever allow herself to think about him.

It had been a two weeks since meeting Daryl. Beth had been swarmed with a shitty vacation, family dinners, and above all listening to how great her siblings' lives had become. Beth stopped thinking about the man who defined her in a way. Michone had been trying to hook her up on dates in the past few days, and all had been complete an utter failures.

Take for instance her first date. Eugene was his name and being a nerd and closeted person was his game.

He had taken her to the science museum down town, where he actually works, and gave her a private tour. Now when I say private, I mean private. He showed her the solar system room, the Dino Discovery, the Mammalian Facilities, Reptilians, Aquatics, anything and everything science related, he showed her. Her least favorite subject in school was science, but she resisted being rude, that is until he took her to an exam room and give her an unwanted exam of his tiny dick and overly hairy balls. She sprinted from that date an never called back.

It was a good thought for Michone to try and hook Beth up, but Michone had terrible choices. Another one of her most infamous failures was Abraham. Tall, stalkily built, gingered man, who was in the army.

Their date started out normal. He had picked her up in his hummer, which she felt helped him compensate for something else in his life,(huh, penis) and took her to the opera. An odd house for this particular rough houser, but she enjoyed it. After the show, he whisked her away to a fancy restaurant, where the lowest price on the menu was $20.95 for 1/4 pound steak. Most of the food there was not vegetarian friendly, so she picked around the meat and ate Penne pasta and bread rolls, while Abraham the Great chomped, no vacuumed up, his 1 pound stake, Four Cheese Pot Luck, two stacks of BBQ riblets, and a very large portion of Oysters, which he clearly stated, as Beth didn't know, were an aphrodisiac.

To kill the mood even more, he started driving her home and when he pulled up in front of her apartment building, He took it upon himself to slide his hand onto her thigh, which she wouldn't have minded, if and only if, he would have kept it close to her knee. No. He slide it up her dress and tried to sled her panties to one side to have a better feel. Let's just say he drove off with a face to match his hair.

Today, she is sitting at home. It's her day off and that's what it's gonna be, off. No more hook ups, no more dates, just sitting at home, by herself, watching the latest episode of Psych. Beth likes this life, she guesses. A nice quality apartment, good size bed, tv, and bath tub. She doesn't need anything else. But she wants something else. A guy who isn't a jerk, who doesn't shove his tongue down her throat on the first date and someone who can make her feel on top of the world by just being present.

Ring....Ring....Ring...

"Hello?" Her voice is excited and taught. She doesn't like to sound grumpy on the phone ever, it's bad for her image of always being nice and happy, which she hasn't been lately.

"Are you ever gonna leave that apartment?" Michone's voice rings over the ear piece.

"I'm not in my apartment..."

"Liar! I see yer' truck. I know yer there!" Beth looks around. She hates this watched feeling.

"No... I took a walk. All by myself. From riverside to south street." She doesn't know why she's quoting Emily Kinney's Expired Lover song, but it works.

"That's from that song you listen too and I know yer' just sitting on yer' couch, watchin' Psych in yer' red sweat pants and white sports tank top. You can't fool me! I know." Beth looks down. She is in her red sweat pants an white tank top.
