Chapter forty five Busted

                      

Fabian has been itching to confront Caleb about what Janice had told him but it never seemed to be the right time because there were always too many people around but now was the perfect time because the house was practically empty, so with determine steps he made his way to Caleb's room.

"Got a minute?" Fabian asks entering Caleb's room. "Sure, what's up? Is it Ty? Is he okay?" "This is not about Ty." Fabian said leaning against the dresser. "So what's up then?" "Why didn't you tell me you knew the identity of the man that gave Janice the drive that night?" Fabian asks in a calm tone. "Because I don't," Caleb said with an uncaring shrug. "Oh, so I guess that makes Janice a liar then because she said you do."

"What difference does it makes if I know what the man looks like or not?" Caleb snaps. "Because you were determined to make someone pay for what happened to Janice and since you didn't get a chance to take it out on her ex, I'm guessing you took it out on this man." "Well I didn't, so you can stop worrying." "Oh I see, so you really expect me to believe that you know who this man is but you just decide to let him get away with what he did to Janice?"

"Yes I did." "Bullshit, now here are your choices, either you tell me the truth right now and let it remain between us or I'll take this matter to dad and let him handle it, and you." "I didn't do anything to him alright! I promise Janice I wouldn't so I didn't." Caleb said annoyed. Fabian chuckled and ease away from the dresser. "Fine you had your chance; I guess you would rather deal with dad than me." He said and head towards the door.

"Wait, damn it, alright, close the door." Fabian stops, turns but didn't do as his brother asks. "Damn it Fabian you've made your point, now get back in here and close the damn door will you." Fabian closes the door and walks towards Caleb. "What did you do?" Fabian demands. Caleb took a deep breath and opens a draw, took out a news paper that was dated a few weeks earlier, flips to the second page, fold it and hand it to Fabian and point to a particular story.

Fabian began reading where Caleb points, "A man was brutally attacked in the parking lot of a well known night club last night. Investigation points to the fact that the attack came days after the man's vehicle was destroyed and set ablaze in a vacant lot. The man was said to be in hospital in critical condition, no motive has yet been established for the attack.

Fabian drew in a shuddered breath as he looks at his brother. "Caleb, how many times have I said that violence isn't the answer, you saw how close you came to jail the last time you attacked someone?" "The bastard deserves it." Caleb said defensively. No sooner had the words came from his mouth before he staggered back in shock as Fabian's slap vibrates across his face and no sooner had he recover from his shock before his brother had him pinned to the wall.

"That was not for you to decide, do you have any idea what it would do to this family if you ended up in jail? What if someone had seen this attack, huh, What if someone had taken a picture of your licenses?" Fabian asks angrily. "What, you want to hit me back? Go ahead, I dear you." Fabian sneered stepping away from him. Caleb huffs in hostility but did nothing.

"Do you have any idea what this would do to your carrier, to your education if you ended up in jail; hasn't this family been through enough?" He said running his hand through his hair. "When are you going to realize that your actions come with consequences?" Fabian barks.

Caleb could taste blood in his mouth but a part of him was grateful for the fact that it was his brother he had to deal with and not his father. "At the time it felt right, I didn't think I just act." "And that's your problem right there, you never think." "You can't say anything to anyone alright." Caleb said holding his cheek. "Who the hell am I going to tell Caleb! Do you even know what happened to him after that?"
