My hand brushed against my pendant.
Fly.
You're free.
Now you've to feel it.

Instead of ringing the bell, I entered through the key and found the lights turned on.
"Alina," I called her but heard nothing. I called her again and heard no response again. Fear settled at the bottom of my stomach. Had I done right by leaving her alone in the apartment? She wasn't in a good mood, and I had left just like that.
What if she had cut herself?
My eyes widened slightly.
What if she had cut too deep?
Quickly, I ran to the kitchen, her room and discovered them empty.
Where was she?
Terrace.
Clutching my hair, I sprinted to the terrace and sighed in relief, founding her head rested on the table. Wearing a lazy smile, I trudged forward and bent in front of her. She was sleeping in the coldness.
Stupid girl.
Always slept reading.
Carefully, I took the book out from her head and placed it on the side. She would kill me if something happened to her book. Stretching my arms, I placed my arm between her knees and back and lifted her.
Damn, had she gone heavy since the last time I carried her?
The last time memory knocked, but I crushed it down. She was alive.
Taking a deep breath, I carried her to the room and placed her on the bed, pulling the blanket to her chest to stop the cold from disturbing her. Taking her specs out of her eyes, I folded them and placed it beside her bed.
Turning off the lights, I strolled out of her room and went to mine, but before I could change the clothes my phone buzzed in my pocket.
Taking it out, I cut his call. Let him call. I didn't care. Because of him I fought with Alina and pushed her into such a situation which could've pushed her back to square one, but she didn't.
He called again. Annoyed, I put it on the speaker and turned on the tap.
"What?" I barked. "What do you want now?"
"Alina," he started. "Rahul told me what happened. Is she okay?"
"Why do you care?" I splashed the water on my face, removing the sweat covering the half of it. I hated how I had to take a cab to go to the hotel, instead of my car. I couldn't afford them knowing who was I, and even parking at the distance felt like a suspicion.
"Kabir, is she okay?"
"Like I said, why do you care? You fight with her for things she didn't say."
"We don't know what happened, so we better ignore it."
"Ignore what?" I rubbed my face with the face wash. "Ignore how you used her past against her? Really Dhruv? What if something like that happens to you? She trusted you."
She trusts you.
Still does.
"Please, tell me how she is. I'm worried."
Breathing heavily through my nose, I replied, "She's fine."
"Rahul told the boy was expelled. What now?"
