"Damn my blood, I am sorry they won't let you have your sloop again, for I scorn to do anyone a mischief, when it is not for my advantage."

-Black Sam

Hours were spent in the bar with Ava drinking while Nathan, Nora and Sam huddling over a table, secretly watching her- mainly to look out for her. While Nathan and Sam were arguing about something that Nora lost track of, her eyes roamed to Ava who was sat dumbfounded, listening to a guy who she probably already forgot the name of.

Ava was laughing harder than she was supposed to, encouraging the man to continue whatever he was doing. Instantly a thought came to Nora and she interrupted the brothers, "hey, hey, Sam. I think you should head over to Ava now."

Sam ashed his cigarette and exhaled, craning his neck to look over at Ava who was now trying to support her head with her palm. His eyes drifted to the man who sat close to her, placing his hand on her thigh. Nathan and Nora watched as Sam immediately stood up and went to fetch Ava.

Nora smiled and Nathan raised a brow at her sudden cheerful nature, "am I missing something?"

"I think your brother has a thing for Ava." Nathan took a moment to think about it before answering.

"Sam? Sam is kind of a...he's kind of a- how do I put this...he's a-"

"A playboy? Yeah, yeah, yeah, so is Ava but I know this is different." Suddenly Nora tried to bite back her smirk as her eyes twinkled at the two.

Nathan couldn't help but chuckle, "what're you now? a love guru?"

Nora ignored Nathan's sarcastic comment before pulling on his arm, "c'mon, I think we should head out."

"I was thinking- do you wanna maybe, get some ice cream?" Nathan asked with a shy smile that Nora couldn't help but tease him.

"Yes, we can do more than just getting ice cream. Nathan Drake." Nathan's mouth gaped excitedly at Nora, immediately standing up.

"Wait-"

"I'm just teasing you, Nate. C'mon let's go."

Sam smoothed his hair before he made his way to where Ava was sitting. He could see how difficult it was for her to shove the man's hand away from her thigh, but fret not, Sam was there to the rescue.

Sam's rough palm slapped the man's shoulder, squeezing hard before pulling the man off of his seat, "excuse me, sir. I think you should keep your hands to yourself." Sam's tone was dangerous and threatening.

The blonde man raised his brow in annoyance, "oh yeah? Says who?"

"Says her boyfriend." Sam offered a smile that made the man's face drop, "so, hands off my girl, buddy."

The man excused himself and Sam sat on the stool beside Ava, cooly.

As Sam's eyes landed on Ava who rested her head on her arm, he noticed that her painted red lips were spread into a smile as her eyes twinkled, "so...I'm your girl now?"

Sam offered the girl a gentle smile as he leaned in closer to her, "would you rather him be your boyfriend?"

Ava giggled at Sam's funny comment. Raising her head to lean in closer to Sam, she rested her hand on his thigh to keep her upright. Their nose was so close that they brushed their noses' tips. "You're right, I'd prefer if you were my boyfriend."

Sam's heart skipped a beat and he couldn't help but forcefully shove the thought of grabbing her and placing her on his lap to kiss her away.

The shot glasses on the table didn't go unnoticed by Sam as his eyes drifted from Ava's honey orbs, "I think you had too much to drink."

"And I think you had too little to drink!" Ava chuckled as Sam tried to keep Ava upright as he ordered her a burger and some water.

Later, Sam watched Ava devour her burger in amusement and slowly watched her come back to life.

"Feelin' better, I hope?"

"I feel okay. Just a lil' nauseated is all." Ava tugged on Sam's shirt as she stood up.

"Where do you think you're going, missy?"

"C'mon, let's go to the juke box." Sam sighed before following Ava who was now dragging him behind her as she held his warm and slightly sweaty hand.

Several people were dancing at the sides of the bar with each other but Sam only realized that the music wasn't on and they were probably just too drunk.

Sam towered over Ava to look at the selection of music before he slipped in a coin that Ava didn't have and a fast beat music started to play and instantly Sam felt the groove, grooving in his bones.

Ava leaned on the juke box, watching Sam bite his lower lip in pleasure as he moved in his place, slightly bouncing. Then, Sam started to dance, making Ava howl in laughter. She watched as Sam thrusted his hips with the rhythm, slapping his hands as he mouthed the lyrics.

"What're you doing, Sam?" Ava said in amusement as she placed her forehead on the juke box, watching the man in delight.

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm dancing!" He snatched her hand and pulled her towards him, only causing Ava to slap against him, "C'mon, Avy! Dance with me."

Ava and Sam danced feverishly with one another and Ava couldn't help but giggle, but when the song changed into a rather slow song that made the drunks on some table extremely sad, it just made Sam grab Ava's waist as she wrapped her arms around his neck. They both swayed in silence, enjoying the rather melancholic tone.

But Sam was thrown off guard when Ava removed her head from the comfort of his hard chest and faced him, her nose brushing his, "Do you wanna see that tattoo, Sammy?"

Sam couldn't help but chuckle and as his mind dived in the gutter, he had to refuse, "maybe when you're more sober, hm?"

Ava laughed before shoving her forehead in the crook of his neck, "You know something?"

"Hmm?"

"I'm glad you're here. Thanks for keeping me company." Ava's drunk cheerfulness and bubbly self soon shifted and Sam could hear the blues in her voice as she spoke.

"Well, of course, I-"

"Rafe is an asshole." The brunette in his arms muttered in a whisper that Sam didn't miss at all.

"I know he is. He shouldn't speak to you that way." Sam meant what he said. He didn't know what exactly occurred between the two but he knew that even if they ended it badly, Rafe had no right to speak to Ava the way he did.

"Yeah, and he shouldn't have striked me either." Ava said, suddenly drifting off on Sam's shoulder.

Sam stopped swaying and craned his neck to look over at Ava in surprise, "What? He did what- he hit you?"

Ava drowsily removed her head from his shoulder and squinted her eyes at Sam, "What?"

"You said he hit you!"

"Who said?" Sam sighed to himself, knowing it was time to send Ava home.

"C'mon, I think we should get you home. Let's talk about this later, shall we?"
