Seth's POV

I was holding her again. My heart jumped for joy. I really missed her. I did take her for granted and I wished I hadn't. I always thought she would be there. If I got my chance again, I would make sure to never take that for granted again. Once she finally calmed, she moved out of my arms. She went back to the couch and sat down. I looked at her, not knowing what to do at this point. I shifted and asked, "Should I go?"

She looked at me. "I want to say no but right now I think it is best."

"No, I understand." I told her, which I did. I didn't want to force this. I knew with her it took time to get her to see things my way. I wasn't angry with her about that. I looked at her. "I will see you soon?"

She nodded and smiled. "Yeah."

I smiled at this. Seeing her smile felt like it meant something. I left without another word. Another week went by and Mary and I started to talk over the phone. Mostly text but I tried not to look too much into it, but it was a start. The weekend was here again. I was in the process of moving into my new house, but Mary was letting me keep the kids overnight, so I stayed at Rachael's as my house wasn't ready. After a full day, I got the kids to bed. They had to share two rooms while I slept on the couch but it was temporary. I didn't mind as I got the kids. After I walked out, I moved downstairs to see my sister in the living room. I joked, "You're sitting on my bed."

"I'm going to bed soon." She said.

I walked over and sat next to her. She was watching something on TV so I watched with her. Then she said, "It's going to be quiet after you leave, I mean on the weekends when you have the kids. They are quite the hand full."

I smiled. "They are but I do enjoy ever minute I get with them."

She looked at me and smiled back. "I know you do."

Just then, my cell went off. I pulled it out of my pocket and saw it was Mary. I quickly answered it. I smiled. "Hey, what's up?"

"Seth?" She sounded to be in tears.

I grew concerned. "What's wrong?"

"Can you pick me up please? I am stranded." She sobbed.

"Yeah, of course. Tell me where you are." I said to her.

She gave me the address and I hung up. I looked over at Rachael. "Mind watching the kids for a little bit?"

"Yeah, it's cool. What's up?" She asked.

I sighed as she was still angry with Mary. I didn't want to tell her but I did. "Mary said she was stranded. I am going to pick her up. She sounded upset."

Rachael looked unhappy. "So, what? She calls and you run."

"Please, Rachael, don't start." I told her.

"No, this is bullshit! She did something so unbelievable and you still run when she needs you too. I just hate to see you being used like this." She was angry.

I sighed. "Look, she is still the mother of my children. And she needs me. What if I ignored her and something worse happened? I couldn't live with myself if something did. I have to help."

"Whatever. Go run to her." She said, coldly.

"So, you still will look over to the kids?" I asked.

She sighed. "Yeah."

"Thanks, Rach." I said.

I quickly left and got to the address Mary gave me. It was a restaurant. She was outside in a nice black dress and high heels. I pulled up as she waited at the curb. Once I did, she opened the passenger door and got in. Her eyes were puff and she looked sad. She didn't look at me, she looked straight ahead. I looked at her. "You okay?"
