Chapter 65

*Chamber* *Third Person P.O.V*
Emily, Alex, Melinda, Sienna and Daniel entered the dark, quiet room.
Broken pieces are lying about, "I do not like this. I do not like this at all" Melinda admitted.
"What is it?" Sienna questioned with curiosity.
"This...this looks like some sort of graveyard" Emily stated.
"Not a graveyard" Daniel said.
"What do you mean?" Sienna ask her brother.
"It's a chessboard" Alex announced.

Then suddenly...

All of the flames light up, illuminating the board the five are standing on.
Giant chess pieces on both side of the board, white and black.
Emily noticed a door on the other side of the chest pieces in front of them.
"There!" Emily exclaimed, pointing forward and the five smiled with relief as they walked forward.

Then suddenly...

Two pawns bring up their swords and stopped the five from going any futher.
"Now what do we do?" Emily questioned.
"It's obvious, isn't it" Alex answered and they looked at him in confusion.

"We have to play across the room and play this game"

Emily is the queen, Daniel a bishop and Alex a knight as Sienna along with Melinda stand to the side.
"What happens in chess now?" Emily asked.
"Well, the white move first since we are the black pieces and then..." Alex explain to her as he climb onto the horse piece.

"we play!"

A white pawn moved forward

*Time Later*

Emily as queen, Daniel as bishop and Alex knight as the two other stand on the side, out of danger way.
"What happens in chess now?" Emily questioned.
"Well, the white move first since we are the black pieces and then...we play!" Alex explains as he climb onto the horse.
A white lawn suddenly on the other side of the chess board moved forward.
"You there! D5!" Alex called and his chest piece moved...

*Time Later*
"I do not believe that we're not doing well"

The white queen chess piece has smashes one of their black pieces, "Wait a minute"
Emily studied the chess board and knew then what had to be done next.
"Emily, you understand what I have to do" Alex said to Emily.
"What's going on?" Melinda questioned, looking at Sienna.
"Once Alex makes his move, the queen will take him" Daniel stated.
"Emily you have to go and check the king afterwards" Alex tells her.
"No! Alex!" Emily exclaimed in shock and surprise.

"What, what is it?"

"He's going to sacrifice himself" Emily inform Sienna and Melinda.

Gasp!

"No, Alex you can't!" Melinda exclaimed.
"There must be another way" Sienna told Alex as he close his eyes.
"Do you want to stop Snape or not?" Alex ask them.

"...."

"I'm...I'm so sorry" Alex whispered.
"Knight...to H3!" he called out and the horse started to move.
Then the horse slides and stops in front of the queen, "Check" Alex said.
The white queen turns...as the chess piece advances.

Breath...Breath...

Alex clutched the steel reins of the black chess horse.
The queen stops in front of Alex and the horse, ..... .....

Then suddenly...

Smash! Scream!

Alex lands on the floor...unconscious...
Emily went and walked all the way across the chess board to the white king piece.
"Checkmate!" Emily called and the king sword falls to the ground.

Thud!

The four went and immediately ran on over to the unconscious Alex.
Melinda check his pulse, "He's alright. Just passed out" she inform them.

Sigh

"Melinda. Take care of Alex" Emily told her and she nod her head.

"Go to the owlery and send a message to Dumbledore. Me, Emily and Sienna will go on..."
