Darkness, My Weakness

Shadows of night linger into the sunrise,
Darkness of light that I can't see,
Everything seems so distant and bleak.

The world is shaded in gray,
A mixture of black and white,
Yet I can only see black.

Black like the night sky,
Ebony darkness haunts me,
And my mind is clouded by grief.

Light from the moon shimmers through the cracks,
Cracks I can't see,
As darkness reigns.

Light, how I wish to see,
To peer beyond this ebony veil,
And join the land of the living.

Walking in shadows,
This darkness calls my mind its home
As I learn to cope.

This darkness does not control me,
It will not keep me at bay:
This is my mind, my life.

Peering past the darkness,
The light stings my eyes,
The light grants me sight.

Seeing clearly for the first time,
The light extends its hand to me,
A hand so soft and gentle.

Pulling me towards it,
The darkness is left behind my eyes,
And the world is painted in colors I've never seen.

Left in awe as the light pulls me close,
An embrace so sweet,
I smile and wrap my arms around her.

She is my light,
The one who makes everything whole again,
The one who makes me feel alive.

She paints my world in color,
She strips the darkness away,
She is my entire world.

I love her with all my heart.
