Julie

It's been three days since I talked to Ethan about his relationship with Ruby. I just finished some paper work I brought from the office and my stomach is growling like never before. I moved out of my room and knocked on Ruby's door. A 'muffled' come in made me bend the handle of the door and see myself in. She was sitting on a sofa, watching TV.

"Babe, how are you?" I asked, sitting down,

"I am fine, good evening." She replied with that overly reserved tone she put on since the incident with Ethan happened."

"What's for dinner?"

"I was thinking pizza."

"Let's eat something homemade."

"I can't cook tonight, will you cook?"

"I am hungry enough to cook."

"The kitchen is yours to do with as you deem fit, milady." She said making a mock bow while I swatted her head.

I went into the kitchen and checked the fridge and groceries left then I decided to make spaghetti and chicken sauce. I started preparing it and after a whole lot of minutes, I went to check Ruby while I let my sauce get some steam,

"Ruby?" She looked up at me and asked, grumbling,

"What is it now, Julie?"

"I think you should call the poor guy."

"Who? Who is that?"

"Do not play dumb with me, Ruby and call Ethan."

"He won't answer me."

"You will never be sure until you try." I said and I stared at her cell phone that laid between us. She followed my stare immediately, catching on with what was on my mind and she made to grab it but it ended up in my hands,

"Uh-oh, I am going to call him and you are going to talk to him." I said as I unlocked her phone and scrolled through her contacts, Ethan King, I dialed the number under the name and extended it to her when it started ringing, I said,

"Do you dare hang up if you do not want to be on my bad side." She collected it and held it gingerly to her ear and after a few seconds, she started talking and I went to check my sauce and the spaghetti before rushing back to hear their conversation.

Ethan

Today has been really hectic, I thought as I pulled out pots to cook dinner. I decided to make  something simple to save me from stress and so I can rest well. I was still trying to get all the ingredients ready when Travis Greene's 'Soul will sing.' blared from my cellphone, I left the kitchen to pick the call and lo and behold, Ruby was the caller. I think I need a seat, my subconscious informed me and I sat down as I accepted the call,

"Hello?"

"Hello, good evening."

"Yeah, good evening."

"How are you?"

"I am okay, thanks."

"Well, I just called to say that um, I am sorry. I was startled. I didn't mean to, you know do what I did."

"You sure do crazy things when you are startled. "

"Yeah. I am sorry Ethan."

"Well, I honestly do not know."

"Please Ethan, I am really sorry."

"All right, apology accepted on one condition."

"Yeah?"

"I need a date to an event on Saturday."

"A date? What event?"

"It's a launching event."

"Oh! So, how am I supposed to get a date for you?"

"I want you as my date, that way, I will know your apology is real."

"But..."

"No buts please." I said and she was silent for a few seconds then,

"Okay, what time?"

"I will pick you up at 12:30 pm."

"All right, bye."

"Yeah, good night and take care." I said as she ended the call and I stared at my phone. Juliet must have gotten on her nerves for her to make that call. Ruby is one thing and that is Stubborn.

I had not plan to take a date to the event on Saturday but now I got myself one and I cannot wait for Saturday to arrive, I smirked and went back to the kitchen to prepare my dinner in high spirits.
