Alex P.O.V

"she's waking up." I heard a familiar voice gasp as my surroundings become more viable. The voice was echoing as my ears were ringing.

"Alex, can you hear me?" another voice spoke, looking around Derek and Vicky were both in view.

"How long was I out?" I instantly asked as I realised I was in the hospital. All the events flashed around in my head but I chose to ignore it. Moving around as I felt uncomfortable I sat up.

"4 days, how are you feeling?" Derek spoke softly

"Fine, what happened?"

"Why don't you tell us Alex." Vicky brought up, this caused Derek to send her the evil look, she instantly shut up and shifted slightly.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing, just leave it Alex, you should get some rest."

"No, wait, you think I planted the bomb?" laughing something caught my attention, a figure passing the door.

"No, it's just we haven't found anything yet and we were wondering why you ran away from the car before opening it." she interrupted

"Wow, I practically get forced to live with my uncle, a very well-known cop for protection and he can't even do the 1 job he was assigned? Great... oh and did the fact I come from an army trained family and childhood not spring into mind? I was trained to detect bombs and to disarm one... also you know in every movie where before a bomb goes off there is a click and then a faint clicking noise? Well that's what happened... I heard it and ran. So no, I didn't try to bomb myself." I snapped at the pair.

"Alex I..." Derek tried to reply but the same figure caught my attention again.

"You know what, I am tired. I think you should both leave and go do your job and find the guys who did this." I half smiled and laid back onto my bed. Pretending to sleep I closed my eyes and waited for them to both leave. Knowing that I had hurt both of them, especially Derek did upset me slightly, but the events of the Christmas meal still played in my head. The horrid things his family spat at me...I will never forgive them.

As they both left I re opened my eyes and jumped out of bed. Ignoring the throbbing headache and the muscle pain, I rummaged through a bag which I assumed had my stuff in it. Grabbing a pair of leggings and a jumper, I quickly changed and grabbed a chocolate from one of the many boxes placed on my window along with balloons and teddy bears. Gosh how old did they think I was... not going to lie, it was cute.

Peeping out of my door I noticed a set of guards sat close by, probably on my watch. Great. Looking around the room I needed to leave without getting caught. Walking around I walked into the small door located on my left, the bathroom. Opening up the door I analysed my surroundings and saw a perfect opportunity. Sitting there proudly was an air vent. Jumping up onto the toilet seat I pried the vent open and set it down on top of the lid of the toilet. Jumping up I squashed my small body through the vent and laid there flat. Now what.

Attempting to turn around as there was a bit of space I was half laying down and half in the crawling position, facing the bathroom I reached down and grabbed the metal piece I took off earlier and placed it back on. Smiling proudly I turned once again and started half crawling and half using my elbows to move my body I made my way forwards. Around a few minutes later a light shone brightly from my left. Following it I looked out to see an empty room. Repeating the same actions to how I got up I exited the vent and jumped down. I was now a few meters away from my room and the guards were nowhere to be seen. Therefore I used this as a perfect opportunity to run.
