"Bye mom good luck in your appointment," each of the three oldest boys kissed my cheek before running down the driveway. "Bye mommy. I promise I'll come visit." Masson hugged my leg gently kissing my lips. "I love you," he smiled waddling away. I waved sending them off to school with Cam and Aaron. "Shawn baby you got Elliot?" I slipped into my shoes. "Yeah we're coming." I listened to him waddle down the stairs. "Hi baby," I took Elliot from his hands. "You ready to go see the doctor?" I kissed her cheek he smiled. "And then you've got your appointment." He kissed my cheek. Today after taking Elliot to her appointment I had to go into surgery. "Are you ok?" I ran my hand over his shoulder. "I'm fine. I'm fine," he nodded kissing my forehead. "Alright then. Let's go," I intertwined our fingers after putting Elliot in her car seat. She spat quite and bit and Shawn was not very fond of that but he's stopped trying to get her to stop. She won't listen, she's too young. "Don't spit baby," I wiped her mouth as her eyes widened at me. I carried the seat and Shawn carried two bags. One for me and the other was Elliot's diaper bag. "You gonna be ok with the kids?" I bit my lip. "I can get jack and Maddison to come help?" I worried thinking about how he would manage. He was gonna have a hard time. "Or Sammy I could get Sammy to come?" I gripped his arm firmly. "And I thought I was gonna be stressed about being alone," his teasing voice felt like some sort of mockery. "I'll be fine," he smiled clipping Elliot in. "Plus the kids are in school most of the time you'll be gone," he kissed my head before we parted ways going to opposite sides of the car. "My mom said she'd come over and help. And Sammy and Maddox volunteered to stay with you at night." His finger played with the shiny gold metal band I wore everyday. "Alright," I sighed giving up. "You don't have to worry so much," he reassured as we pulled up to the pediatricians office. "Mendes?" I smiled at the counter. "Right this way," she led us back to a room. "Well that was fast," I chuckled at Shawn who carried the bag. My arm wrapped around his. "It was, wasn't it." He kissed my temple. "The doctor will be with you shortly. "Hi I'm dr. Greene I'm the pediatrician," he smiled. "Nice to meet you," he sat in the chair in front of us pulling up the files. "So just a check up?" He questioned Shawn as I took Elliot from the car seat. "That's right," he nodded taking her from my arms. Her eyes were wide open and she stared around with great confusion as she realized we weren't in her room. "Where are we?" Shawn gasped making her eyes go wide. She looked around. "We're not at home are we?" He gasped again making her jump. "Alright well let's see," he brought out a stethoscope to check out her heartbeat. "Any concerns?" He started checking out her heartbeat. "She doesn't smile," Shawn pouted at her. "At all?" The doctor chuckled slightly. "No like at all. She does not smile." He shook his head. "How old is she?" He sat in the chair. "Almost a month old," I smiled proudly. "She'll smile eventually. Should be within the next few weeks." He shrugged. She had short soft brown hair which Shawn constantly played with. "How's her crying?" He closed her folder putting it back into a filing cabinet. "Fine," I shrugged. "Alright," he shrugged. Shawn cradled the child planting gentile kisses on her forehead every so often. It startled her slightly for the first few times but she got used to it and then eventually drifted off to sleep. "That's it. Everything else is up to date. No concerns then we're good," he nodded. "Wow that was quick." I smiled. "Yup," he chuckled as Shawn and I packed up the stuff. "Alright well see you guys next time." He chuckled. "Now to the hospital." He sighed clipping Elliot into the back. "You'll be ok," I reassured lacing our hands together. "But I don't know if you'll be." He sighed. "I promise I'll be fine. We know these doctors and you trust them don't you?" I kissed his hand trying to offer some reassurance. "I do, but I don't want you to get hurt," we pulled into the hospital parking lot. "But I'll get hurt if I don't do this." I sighed as he pulled into a parking space. "I know," tears welled in his eyes. "Shawn," I pouted. "I love you guys so much and I promise nothing will happen. Ok?" I gripped his other hand in mine. "Alright," he swallowed. I kissed his nose. "Now where's your smile?" I spoke to him as if it were Masson. "Let me see your pretty teeth," I kissed his lips. Licking across his lip making him open his mouth. Our tongues touched but only briefly as he pulled away. "I love you baby girl," he squeezed my hands. "I love you too," I kissed him yet again. "Are you sure you'll be ok?" I worried as we began walking into the building. "I'm sure." He chuckled. "Mendes," I smiled to the lady working the counter. "Right this way," she led us to the waiting room. "The doctor will be with you shortly." She smiled. "Hi princess," Shawn smiled taking Elliot out to stop her crying. "You still sleepy or are you hungry?" He pouted. "You sleepy," he chuckled. Her eyes stayed open as she looked around. "Will you smile already?" He groaned impatiently at the little girl who seemed terrified at the strange noise her father had just made. "Your gonna scare her," I chuckled holding my hand against his shoulder. "She gets scared by everything." He rolled his eyes kissing my forehead. "I can't wait till everything stops scaring her and she finally understands us." I sighed leaning my head against him. "Yeah," he smiled kissing my head. His left arm cradled her and my right arm met with his. Gently he wrapped his right arm around my waist. "Maddy?" A doctor called. Two of us stood. "Mendes?" He gave us both a questioning look. "Me," I smiled. "Alright so you know what you're in for today?" He brought us into a room. "Yeah I do," I nodded holding Elliot against me. "Alright the nurse'll be in soon." He smiled walking out. I nodded and Shawn smiled. "You gonna be ok?" I gripped Shawn's shoulder. "I think I'll be just fine as long as you are." He nodded reassuring himself more then me. "I know you'll be just fine," I kissed his neck. I planted more and more kisses making him laugh. "I love you." He smiled kissing my forehead. "I love you too," I planted one last kiss on his neck. "It's a week right?" He seemed very nervous. "Yes love it's only a week," I reassured. "You gonna be good for daddy?" I kissed Elliot's forehead. "Yeah?" I giggled. She blinked at me a couple times but her facial expression always stayed blank. "Will you smile for me?" I ran my hands threw her hair. "No?" I shook my head. "She has your eyes," I nudged Shawn's arm. "She has your hair." He smiled widely between the two of us. "Maddy?" A nurse walked in. I smiled at her taking Elliot from my legs to my shoulder. Then quickly and gently I turned her around do she faced in front of her. "She's so cute," the nurse smiled. "How old is she?" She smiled at her. "She's almost a month old," my fingers ran threw her hair. "Anyway. The surgery shouldn't take very long but we've been informed you have five kids?" She looked between the two of us and then back down at her papers. "Yeah that's correct," I nodded. "We don't allow the kids to visit until the doctors have decided that she's fit to see them. It's more for their sake because in the end she'll have tubes everywhere and kids don't generally like seeing their parents like that. If you'd like she could come because I don't think it would make a difference but otherwise the children can't come till most of the tubes are gone," she smiled. "Does that make sense?" She looked back up. "Yeah," Shawn nodded. "So is someone allowed to stay with her while she's here?" He bit his lip. "Yes, she can have one person a day with her. Not that visits isn't allowed but only one person a day can stay overnight." She explained but more so rambled. "Alright," he nodded. "Is that everything?" She closed the folder and looked up at us. "Yeah that's everything." I nodded looking at Shawn. "Yup that's it," he faked enthusiasm. "Alright well here I'll leave you this to change into and then we'll start." She nodded making Shawn look even more nervous then before. "I'll be back in about fifteen minutes," she smiled walking out. "I've got her," Shawn took Elliot from my arms while I changed. I took off my clothes and slipped into the hospital gown. "You'll be fine Shawn," I looked at the nervous look that spread across his face. "It's not being with the kids that I'm worried about," he sighed. "I don't want you to get hurt," he stuck his bottom lip out. "Don't think like that because Easton has to get the same thing done. We will both be just fine," I kissed his jaw. There was a knock at the door. "You dressed?" She knocked again. "Yeah," I nodded. "Alright well we can start whenever your ready," she smiled at me. "Can we have twenty more minutes together?' I raised an eyebrow. "Sure." She shrugged nodding and walking out. She shut and locked the door for us and I figured she knew what I was gonna do. "I have something special I wanna do with you." I took Elliot from him laying her sleeping body in the carrier. "In a hospital?" He gasped. "Check that off of the list of places we've done it," I shrugged. "Your so cute," he chuckled watching me unbuckle his belt.
