"Did you have fun on your trip?" Shawn opened the door just as I set Easton in his playpen for his scheduled nap. He looked at me briefly before trudging up the stairs. I sighed covering the small body of my almost year old son with his blanket as he slept. I walked to the front shutting the door gently. Sighing aloud I followed him up the stairs. "What's wrong baby?" I gently pushed the door open. "I can't Maddy," his voice was hoarse. "Baby what happened?" I walked towards where he lay on the bed. "They lied," he shook his head. "They fucking lied," his voice was stripped down and tired. "What did they lie about?" I sat next to him on the bed. "My fans," he leaned back as far as he could burying his head into the pillow. "Wanna talk about it?" My fingertips grazed over his neck. "They all hate me." He groaned sitting up. "I'm sure they don't hate you Shawn," I reassured wrapping my arm around his shoulder. "They all hate me," his voice lower than it already was. "I'm sure your overreacting." He rubbed his shoulder. "Come down darling. I'll make you some tea," I stood bringing him with me. "Alright," he swallowed trying to lessen the fragile sound of his voice. "Why would you think that they hate you?" I brought him into the kitchen sitting him down. "They wrote in the article that I said my fans will never understand me." His large hands ran through his soft chocolate coloured hair. "But that's not what I said." He sighed. "And now they're all mad at me." I pulled my phone out going next to him and looking at his twitter page. "I'm so sorry baby," I wrapped my arms around him. "They don't fucking understand." He shook his head. "Want me to talk to them?" I held his head into my shoulder. "No," he sighed. "Are you sure. I can yell at the publishers if you want. I can change the final print," I held him tightly. "You can do that?" He swallowed. "It all comes through my company." I spoke with such sympathy yet great pride. "You would do that for me?" He kissed my exposed shoulder. "I would do anything for you my love," I kissed his temple. "I love you," his head rested on my shoulder. "I love you too," the kettle finished boiling and I pulled away going to make him his tea. I poured some of the boiled water into his cup adding in a tea bag and some honey. I mixed it up and handed him the cup. "Thank you," his soft lips collided with mine. "Any time," I watched as he sipped the hot beverage. "I'll be right back." I gripped his phone and walking towards the stairs. "Please darling don't do anything you'll regret." He called after me as I ran up the stairs. He probably thought it was my own phone that I held but it wasn't. I opened it going onto his twitter page. I typed two tweets before closing the phone and walking towards Easton's playpen. He was awake and stood holding onto the side. "Did you have a nice nap?" I picked him up and out. I set him on the ground letting him wobble over towards Shawn. "Hi buddy," Shawn turned. Easton pouted at the sound of Shawn's hoarse voice. "I'm ok," he smiled bending down to Easton's level. Easton looked at him confused and the started walking faster towards me. "Not today. I don't wanna play this game," Shawn whined at Easton. "Please?" Shawn pouted walking towards us. He held my leg hiding from Shawn. "You don't remember daddy?" I picked him up putting him on my hip. He buried his head in my shoulder. "Please east?" Shawn begged. "I missed you baby," Shawn sighed. "He'll come around," I pouted watching his struggle. "This just isn't my day," he walked into the living room slumping on the couch. I sighed as Easton took his head from my shoulder. He started squirming in my arms and I put him down. He stood at the doorway chewing his hand. He pointed at Shawn. He sat on the couch with his head hanging low. "Daddy's sad," I sighed. He stopped chewing his hand and ran towards Shawn. I smiled as he wrapped his small arms around Shawn's much larger torso. "Hi baby." Shawn smiled lifting him onto his lap. He attempted signing daddy to Shawn. "Yes," shawn had learned some sign language for Easton. I watched as Easton just pouted. "What's wrong?" Shawn asked trying to figure out what he was saying. He nodded. "Nothing baby. Everything fine. I've got you and mommy and that's all I need to be happy," he smiled at the child. I wiped the tears that had formed in my eyes. "Come on Easton time for your medicine," I coughed taking him from Shawn. I grabbed him a sippy cup. "Want some juice?" I opened the fridge. He reached for the apple juice. "This one?" I took it out. He nodded. "Go sit with daddy for a minute," I handed him to Shawn. I put a few drops of his medicine into his cup with it. I put some water in it as well to dial down the sweetness of the juice. I screwed the lid onto the cup and grabbed a plate that I had made earlier full of muffins. I set it in front of Shawn while giving Easton his juice. "Thank you darling," he had a wide spread smile across his face. "Welcome," I smiled taking one for myself. "So," Shawn's hoarse voice sounded as if it were being stripped word by word. "Your birthdays soon," he wiggled his eyebrows. "Nothing Shawn. I do not want anything. Nothing at all." I pointed. "At all. I'll kill you if you get me anything," I spoke with such seriousness. "Alright alright. I'll get you something small then," he shrugged. "What. No. I don't want anything. I won't accept any gifts. Especially not from you," he pouted. "Why not?" His bottom lip quivered. "Awe baby I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings," I walked towards him. "Why won't you take any gifts from me?" His pouting lip stuck out further. "Because. Even when you say they're small they're not and I hate big gifts. I hate gifts in general," I sighed holding Shawn tightly. "Why princess. You don't have to hate them," he pulled me onto his lap. "Tell me what's really going on?" His lips hit mine. His voice just barely holding on. "I don't like my birthday and you know that. I've always hated it. Because it's just not ever a good day for me." I shrugged. "Why?" The last straw of his voice holding on so tightly. "Because my dad has always made it about him. My mom would never intervene for any of it. And my dad used to say because it's your birthday you'll get it worse because that's what happened to me." I threw information on top of information. "It's hard. I hate that day and I always have. And nothing or no one could change that." He sighed. "I wanna try," his voice completely let go and they was nothing left. "Are you alright?" I listened to the muffled sounds sounding a lot like screams erupt from his mouth. He nodded slightly. "Are you sure?" He shook his head and tears slipped through his eyes. "Baby," I held his head against my shoulder. "Sh," I kissed his head. "It's ok. Well get through this," I watched as he broke down. "Come on." He shook his head hurrying it in his hands. I stood grabbing my phone. I dialled jacks number praying he would answer quickly. "Hey Maddy what's up?" He smiled. "Can you come get east?" I sighed watching Shawn. "Yeah sure is everything alright?" He sounded worried. "For the most part." Easton reached for his father. "Alright. I'll be over in like five minutes," he hung up and so did I. "Baby," I picked Easton out of the high chair. "Your gonna spend the day with grandpa." I put him on my hip. "Shawn go lay in bed. I'll be up in a bit. He nodded. "D-" Easton's voice mumbled small sounds that almost made words. Shawn ran up the stairs. Still having tears in his eyes. Easton pouted. "Daddy's ok." I nodded even though he didn't believe me. G knocked on the door. "Come on," I put Easton in his car seat and made my way to the door. "Thank you," I smiled at Jack. "Anytime. Where's shawn?" He looked around. "He lost his voice. And he's not very happy about it. So I sent him to bed. I'm gonna go up and help him in a minute." He nodded taking east and his blanket. "Call me and I'll bring him home," Jack smiled walking down the stairs. "Your the best," I smiled at him while closing the door. Shawn sat on the bed his head buried in his hands. "Baby?" I knocked softly at the door. He looked up. "Is there anything I can get you?" I smiled sympathetically walking towards him. He shook his head. "Are you ok?" I sat at the foot of the bed. He shook his head. "Shawn," my hands gently touched his sore throat. "Am I hurting you?" My fingertips ran all over his neck. He shook his head. My fingers dug gently into his skin. "Does it hurt?" I continued what I was doing. He shook his head slightly. "Let me know if I'm hurting you," I continued massaging around his neck. "You need to rest your voice. And calm down a bit." I sat him up sitting behind him. "I'm sorry," his voice wasn't even a whisper. "Sh," I put my finger on his lips. "You shouldn't be talking." I held his head against me. "Baby." I sighed. "Is there anything I can do for you?" I ran my hands threw his hair. 'No' he signed to me. "Do you wanna do something?" I kissed all around his face. "Help me with my stress," he mouthed. "Alright baby wait here," I laid him back on the bed walking into the bathroom. I started the hot water and ran a hot bath adding in some bath salts. "Shawn baby come in here please," the bath was full off water along with the bath salts. I heard tired rugged footsteps. "Awe baby," his tear stained eyes were bloodshot. "I'm sorry," I wrapped my arms around his tired body. I felt his salty tears his my shoulder. "No Shawn don't cry," I kissed his soft cheek. He wiped his tears breathing a loud breath. "Come on," I led him towards the bathtub as I slowly stripped him of his clothing. Starting with his shirt and then fumbling with his belt buckle. "I'm so sorry baby," I kissed his lips gently. "This shouldn't have happened." He shook his head. "It happens to the best of em," he typed on his phone. "I love you," I kissed his neck whilst dropping his pants to his ankles. "I love you too," he spoked using his own voice. "I told you it to speak," I scolded as he eased himself into the warm water. "I can't type something so meaningful." He shrugged while typing on his phone. "Let's put the phone down and just give you some time to relax," I kissed his neck while massaging his shoulder and neck area. "Just calm your breathing," I spoke. "And close your eyes," I whispered in his ear. "And let yourself relax." His shoulder drooped slightly as he (finally) relaxed. His phone buzzed on the counter. "It's Andrew," I looked at the contact name. "Want me to answer it for you?" I sighed nodding. "Baby relax I'll be right back," I slid the screen walking out of the bathroom. "Ok so you have an interview tomorrow that you can't miss and then we're flying you to the us and you have a couple shows there," he listed. "Andrew," he stopped. "Oh hey Maddy where's Shawn?" Mine and Andrews relationship had gotten better after Easton's birth. "He lost his voice," I swallowed. "That's not a good thing." He shook his head. "What can we do?" He seemed rushed and afraid. "Well in trying to get him to rest his voice and relax but he keeps stressing over something," I sighed. "The-album," he answered way too quickly. "Ok?" I shrugged. "Ok we'll leave him alone but tomorrow is really important. He has to be at the studio." Andrew stressed. "Alright. I'll make sure he's there but I can't guarantee he'll be singing." I sighed looking into the bathroom. "Alright." Andrew sighed hanging up the phone. I closed it walking towards him in the bathroom. His head jolted towards me. "It's alright. I fixed everything. But you have to be in the studio tomorrow." He sighed looking down. "Hey hey hey." I lifted his head. "Where'd that beautiful smiled of yours go?" I pushed my lips against his. "Please," I smiled at him. He smiled a closed mouth broken smile at me. "Please Shawn. I haven't seen your smile all week," I pouted. "The days are dull when I don't have your smile to brighten them," I gave him my cheesiest line making him laugh. "There it is," I kissed his smiling face. "Oh how I've missed the light," I kissed his nose. "I didn't know you could get so cheesy," he typed in his phone. "I needed to see that smile again." My lips hit his once more. "I love you," I pulled away. 'I love you too,' he signed.
