Her smile was not angelic at all

Her smile was not angelic at all. Her eyes glinted familiarly as she made her way towards me. I awkwardly stood up and smiled at her.

She took the seat in front of me by crossing her legs over one another gracefully. She wore a beautiful gown and for a minute I just stared at it.

"Do you like it?"
The lady smiled at me looking amused for some reason. I quickly shook my head.

"I am Monica. And you are Cheyenne Dawn, right."
I was not shocked at all that she knew my name. After watching enough movies where the girl gets kidnapped and her kidnapper know everything about her life, I was practically prepared.

"Yes."
I replied with a soft nod. I didn't know how to handle this situation. Internally I was freaking out but externally I tried to look calm and collected.

She was checking her golden watch after every minute which I found very irritating. I was about to shout at her to stop looking at that stupid watch when she smiled suddenly and relaxed against the chair and I scrunched my brows in confusion.

Is she bipolar or what?

"About time you came to visit me."
With an expression like a mischievous cat, she fixed her eyes on the new arrival.

I turned around to see Ronin standing at the door with a murderous look in his eyes. His eyes caught mine for a second and an indescribable emotion passed through them making me shiver.

I practically ran to him, relieved to see a familiar face. My arms were wounded tightly around him and after a few seconds his arm hugged my waist and I looked up to gorge his expression.

He was staring at the woman sitting on the chair and I detached myself from him.
"Stay Close."
He whispered in my ear.

I took the offer to my full advantage and forgot about the anger I was supposed to show him. I clung to his arm the same way that bimbo did from the cafe.

"I told you to leave her out of this mess but you have to do the exact things I tell you not to do, right, Monica."
He sneered her name like venom and I couldn't help but flinch at his tone. He could never behave like a gentleman. The date was surely a dream.

I squeezed his arm a little to let him know that he was behaving like an idiot. He glanced down at his arm and then at me. He scowled at my calm face but I was far from being affected by him now.

"Ronin, you were always so brave, the strongest with a black heart but now I think I have found your weakness. I'll leave her alone if you return to me."
Her voice was sweet as honey but her expression was malicious.

"She is not my weakness but I won't let you play your stupid games with me now."
Ronin growled back in the same tone and this time I didn't stop him.

"You know well enough that I could make you stay here and you will not be able to do a single thing about it."
She smiled at him and with a flick of her finger three men crowded the room looking ready to do anything she orders.

Ronin turned around and glared at the man who threatened me. He was giving him a knowing smirk. I couldn't help but notice the emotion they shared was anything but friendly.

"I thought bringing you back from Japan would be the best thing for you but that's not the case."
After she said that Ronin's body was boiling with rage. He clenched his fists by his side and at that moment I couldn't decide who I feared the most right now.

"You did not. I thought.."
Ronin's words were hanging in the air. He released my arm and moved towards Monica.

"You thought your father called you here. I was missing my baby that's why I called you back. It was mine, your mother's orders."
My eyes widened and I stood stunned at her words.

She is Ronin's mother.

Holy shit!
