Snowed in

You were currently visiting your boyfriend Shawn in Pickering Ontario, which would be fun if it weren't the middle of winter. Now Toronto doesn't get a ton of snow, and there are colder parts in Ontario, but last year the GTA got an ice storm that knocked power out for up to three days and you were paranoid it would happen again. You and Shawn had just gone to bed and it was snowing lightly, and there was only 3cm on the ground prior. Waking up was a different story; the wind blew all the snow around into snowdrifts so you were snowed in, and it was still snowing. You groaned and went to boil water to melt your way out, hoping to go out for the day.

"Y/n stop it babe, it's a storm out there anyway." Shawn laughed as he reached into the cupboard, grabbing ingredients to make stew in the slow cooker.

"Fiiiiiine," you sighed, flopping down on the couch to search Netflix.

Shawn sat next to you and handed you a hot chocolate, opening his arms to let you snuggle in.

By the time you were ready to start your second film the stew was ready, just as Shawn turned off the slow cooker the television, and entire house went black. You jumped as the flashlight from Shawn's phone came on.

You heard him grumble,"Shoot. Powers gone."

"Do you need anything?" You asked, trying to remain calm as the house started to cool.

"Can you get the fire going?" He nodded to the fireplace.

You grabbed your phone to use your own flashlight and started to build a fire while Shawn grabbed some blankets. He returned to the room carrying several blankets and his laptop.

"This is charged, we can watch something while we wait," he suggested.

"Sounds good, and we have warm stew!" You were suddenly much more optimistic.

Shawn got the bowls and you returned to cuddling, hunkered under blankets.

It was getting dark out, Shawn's laptop was dead, and there was still no power. You managed to find real flashlights and set them up on the floor to light up the room. The two of you had decided to kill more time with board games. Before bed Shawn busted out his guitar and played some music; you sang with him. As you started to get more tired you started to stretch out on the floor, wrapping blankets around you. Shawn lifted you up and brought you to bed with him, holding you close to him since the house was so cold.

"You know Shawn, this wasn't too bad." You yawned, "I mean if I have to be snowed in at least I'm stuck with you."

He snorted "Gee thanks."

"You know what I mean. I love you."

"I love you too Y/n, get some sleep and hopefully we'll wake up with electricity."

You didn't. But you did wake up with a bit more energy. While Shawn cursed under his breath to lack of power you crawled on top of him, "I know what we can do to warm up."

Shawn raised a brow at you, knowing exactly what you wanted.

After your morning romp you dressed and walked back to the main room. You guys found fruit for breakfast so you didn't need power. You got the bright idea to heat the stew over the fire for lunch. The two of you spent hours just lounging around and talking; you could tell Shawn actually appreciated the break from activity since he had been so busy on tour. The power clicked on around 9PM and you actually sighed as lights flickered on. You really did enjoy having time with him, even if there was nothing to do. The city started ploughing that night so Shawn started planning your activities for tomorrow.

"We can skate on the pond and then go into Toronto to shop, afterward we'll grab dinner and I'll see if I can get us cheap tickets to a Leafs game."

"Or we could save that for the day after tomorrow," you suggested, "I kinda like it just being us."

He was exasperated "You're actually willing to slow down?" he laughed as you shrugged, blushing a little, "I'll take it."

Shawn stayed true to his word though and you did everything he listed off before you had to go home.
