Yup. The entire scene above happened to my parents once. My mum would always get up earlier than my dad (except in exceptional cases when my dad has to go abroad for work) and she would properly apply toothpaste on my dad's brush.
One day, I wake up and see that the pet dog we used to own back then had somehow let himself in and was licking Dad's brush. I didn't say anything at all because I just wanted to see my Dad's reaction when he sees this on his own. This happened everyday until one day Dad woke up just after Mom and saw this.
That day only, our dad bought an entire set of new (and dog-proof) toothbrushes. It was hilarious!! XD
