“What about you new guy? Would you willing give your blood to my sister if she asked?”
I really thought about the question. Even though I was here and am somewhat willing to help her try to become human. I still don’t trust Iris and I wouldn’t purposely put my life on the line. With all eyes on me I answered.
“No.” Iris didn’t seem disappointed as if she expected that from me.
“Smart kid. I don’t blame you. She’s a killer as we all are. 35 only talks like that because he’s been with us for so long that he doesn’t know the difference between being human and a vampire.”
Kinsley might be over three hundred years old but he was still just a boy. 35’s dedication to Iris had nothing to do with his inability to tell the difference between the two.
“The only reason you aren’t dead right now is because of the magic she has on you. Unlike her it doesn’t bother me to kill people. They have to die some how. Why not help them in the grave.”
He gave me a smile flashing his fangs. They weren’t as big and threatening as I’ve seen in movies. But they were still nothing I wanted to mess with.
“I hate it when you talk like that.” Iris told him.
“It’s you fault!” He snapped.
“How on Earth can you say that?”
“You were the one who wanted to go to Egypt so badly!” Iris whole face fell. All the angry that was in it before was replace by regret.
“I didn’t know that any of this would happen.” She whispered.
They’re worst than me and my sister. I thought. I saw Roger walked into the room while they were arguing.
“You don’t want to wake sleeping beauty.”
“Like she’ll be up anytime soon.” Iris snapped at him. But Roger wasn’t fazed.
“I did what I did for the greater good. The reason I came up here is because you have company.” I wondered if Roger was always as smug as he is now.
“Who?” Roger just raised his eyebrow and everyone seemed to be clued into who was visiting. They were leaving out the room while I was sitting ion the dark. Seeing to it that they weren’t going to tell me it was time to play follow the leader.
When we got down to the first floor I could hear soft snores coming from behind a closed door. It must have been where Roger put Jade while she slept. We made our way to the living room and continued on through it. And on through the foyer and on out the front door.
Across the lawn stood a tall woman with blazing curly red hair. Her hand with claw like nails rested under her chin while she impatiently waited.
The red headed woman stood next to a 1930 Rolls Royce with the driver side door ajar. Malevolent clouds of smoke drifted up from the driver seat. But the person inside was hidden by the shadows of the late afternoon sun.
I sat on the steps by the front door seeing that I didn’t know these people and nothing was asked of me. I figured that I would just be getting in the way. Roger and 35 followed Iris across the lawn but didn’t step outside its bounds. Iris stepped closest to the two people.
“Hello Gabrielle.” The red head said politely then held her hand out for Iris to shake it.
Iris looked at the hand but made no move to take it. Instead she clenched her fist.
“What are you doing here?”
Laugher erupted from the car. The red headed woman took her hand back and scowled. “I see the child still hasn’t learned any manners.”
“Child?”
The red headed woman started to respond but was stopped from the person in the car.
“That’s enough Eiffel.” A man stepped out of the expensive car taking the red head; he had called Eiffel, by the arm. He wore multiple finger rings and earrings. He was dressed in a dark smoke grey three-piece suit.
“It’s been a long time Love.” The man said to Iris while he stared at her with his light grey piercing eyes surround with rings of black.
“I thought you upgraded from this nineteenth century hag, Mr.Burvant.” Iris spat. So this was the man that she was supposed to marry. The man she turned.
“You’re older than me you brat!” Eiffel complained.
“The mirror tells a different story.” Iris teased Eiffel.
“Iris lets stay on topic.” Roger suggested.
“Right. What are you doing here? You know that you and your followers are not allowed on this property by forces of magic.” She said in a much more serious, business like tone.
“Yes I remember your dealings with that witch. I have come for what belongs to me.” Mr. Burvant mimicked her tone.
“Mr.Burvant old age must be getting to you because there is nothing here that you have any right to.” She shook her head.
The man’s whole demeanor shifted after Iris said that. His voice was strained and close to yelling. “Are you now not following the rules you once said we should all live by? I turned that girl and under your rules she is my responsibility. Therefore she belongs to me!”
Iris took a step closer. “And I turned you! So everyone you turn is my responsibility as well!”
“Give me the Girl!” He barked.
“Krepsley!” A voice boomed from over my head. “You have no reason to be here so I suggest you leave!” I turned around to face a broad shoulder, olive-skinned man. His voice alone was threatening but he looked as if he was ready to kill.
“I will leave once I get what I came here for.” I couldn’t believe he was going against what this murderous looking man had to him.
“You will empty handed!” The man growled.
Mr. Burvant pulled a cigarette out from his left breast pocket. “You’ve always been a scary man Mr. Partridge.” He then lit and took a drag from his cigarette. “But I have always been one to get what I want.” He finished then got in his car.
Everyone stood motionless until the car was out of sight. And that’s when it hit me. Mr. Burvant and Krepsley were the same person. Also that Mr. Partridge is Iris’s father and he is still standing right behind me.
A/N ( First off I want to say sorry for the long wait. I was considering scrapping this story but I was told by a few that I shouldn’t. So I will write this until it is done. Also I know this isn’t the best chapter.
Secondly I don’t know anything about sailing. So if that part didn’t make any sense or is impossible I’m sorry.
Third I don’t have a cast for this story. (Mainly because I was thinking about deleting it.) So I’m asking all of you. Who would you like to play the characters? I will put up pictures to give you an idea of how I picture them. But I would love to know who you would want.
And Lastly Thanks for reading!!! It really means a lot to me. Vote & Comment I would love to hear what you all think.) ~October
