Chapter 4 I’m on a mission Part 2

“Hey kid what time is it?”

“I’m not a kid.” She looked me up and down.

“Maybe not. So what time is it?”

I pulled out my phone. “4:47”

“Hmmm…less than twenty minutes then.” She said eyes toward the sky.

“For what?”

“The train.” She smiled at me with her eyes closed then turned back towards the sky.

“You’re crazy you can’t get on the train here. It doesn’t stop here.”

She put the cigarette to her lips again. “I don’t plan to get on it.”

“Well you sure did pick a great spot to watch it go by.” I said with sarcasm dripping from my lips. While she still laid across the track.

“I didn’t plan to watch it either.” She smiled at me. “Are you gonna watch?”

I wasn’t really sure what she meant but I knew she wasn’t talking about the train. “Umm…” The sound of the train cut me off. She took the cigarette to her lips one last time then put it out and closed her eyes and a smile touched her lips. Her hands were rested on her chest like they do to the dead.

“The train is coming.” I said struggling to sound calm as she was. With the sound of the approaching train growing louder. She stay calm and still.

“You know they used to give inmates cigarettes before they executed them. To calm them down, give them one last human pleasure before the end.”

“Your trying to kill yourself?!” My voice cracked because of the shock and surprise.

“I don’t think this will count as a try…I’m going to.” She responded like I was asking her for her favorite color.

“No, you’re not. At least not while I’m around. I’m not just going to let someone I know just die.”

“Ha! Someone you know? You don’t even know my name.”

The train was now in view. “My name is Aleck. Whats Yours?” I had came up with a plan.

“What are you doing?” She propped herself up on her elbows.

“Introducing myself. Now you do the same.” I felt a smirk tug at my lips.

“Hmmm.” She grinned. “Molly.” I didn’t believe for a second that her name was ‘Molly’, but I had no time to argue. The train was about a minute from cutting her in half.

“Nice to meet you Molly.” I held out my hand so I could shake hers. When she took my hand I yanked her with all my might. She flew up and crashed into me sending us to the dirt path. We rolled until I was left on top of her. We both watched the train go by. Then she pushed me off of her, stood up, and dusted herself off.

“Hmph. Well it was a pleasure meeting you Aleck Dudley.” She said walking away waving her hand above her head.

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah.” I watched her as she started to disappear around the path’s corner, when it hit me. “Hey wait! How did you know my last name?”

I ran and caught up with her. She turned to face me. “I never told you what my last name was.”

She put her index finger to her pouting lips. “Oops.”
