Chapter 7 I guess I’m coming over

“Who’s you friend?” Blake asked sounding almost amused. “Huh Aleck?”

“Ah…” Was all I could get out.

“Hi I’m Iris.” She extended her hand to him and he shook it. “I heard from some other girls that Aleck is really smart and amazing and stuff.I’m not as skill as he is at school so I was wondering if he would tutor me. He said he would be all too happy to help me. We were just discussing if he could come over to my house after school for a few hours.” She smiled at him.

The lies that came out of her mouth were unbelievable. How could she just formulate a story like that right on the spot? Her body language, the tone of her voice, the smile on her face, and even in her eyes showed not even the slightest hint of a lie. Blake was feeding off of every word she said. I’m pretty should if she told him that she was a purple and yellow spotted three ton spider-dragon, he would believe it.

“Hello? Earth to Al.” Blake waved his hand in front of my face.

“Quit.” I pushed his hand away from me.

“So are you gonna help Iris study for her last final?” He asked with a brow raised, hinting that I should help her.

“Can’t. I have detention after school, remember.” I gave Blake a look.

“That’s great!” Both of us gaped at her. “I mean it’s not great that you have detention. But it’s great because I have an after school club any way. We should get out around the same time. We can just walk to my house after that.”

“That’s the plan then.” Blake spoke up before I had a chance to.

“Awesome!” she giggled. “See you Aleck.” She waved and disappeared into the sea of people making there way to class.

“Did you notice she has the same name as the girl you were looking for.” Blake said facing the direction she left in.

“You don’t say. I didn’t notice.” I said sarcastically but I guess he didn’t pick up on that.

“Well I hope you two have a great study date.” He wiggled his brows suggestively then made his way to Jesse’s locker.

The rest of the school day was a blur. Old movies in the classes that I had already taken exams for and review in the one that I hadn’t. During lunch I was unfocused, my mind was wandering.

I started daydreaming, the next thing I knew I was leaving out of detention.

“Aleck.” Someone called bring me back to reality.

I looked down to find Iris sitting on the steps of the library. She was wearing huge butterfly sunglasses. She was looking out into the distance.

“How come you’re not dead?” I asked.

Her  head snapped back my way. “Excuse me?"

“You’re a…ah. You…being, what you are. I just figured.”

She stood up and slipped her sunglasses to her forehead so she could face me eye to eye. “ That because I’m a vampire, you figured I couldn’t go out in the sun? My sister thought that too.” There was sadness in her eyes.

“Sister?” I asked. She only mentioned having a brother.

“We really should get going.” She muttered.

We walk for walk seemed like forever in silence. Making our way into a rather new looking neighborhood with a few older homes. Iris stopped in front of one house that looked more like a mini castle, it was a Victorian style house.
