A's Note...The song in the video is a song from the anime Bleach. Bleach is one of my favorite tv shows and the guy with the blue hair, Grimmjow is one of my favorite characters. It was so sad when he died, but I believe he still lives on. Anyway at the end of this chapter I think the song fits best. I was listening to it when I was writting. :D All the songs from Bleach are awesome!!!!

Chapter 12 Turned Part 3

When it was done they drugged us again. I awoke the next morning aboard the ship in my own cabin. I was disoriented and confused. I was unsure of what had occurred, If it was a dream or not.

I went on deck to find that everything was normal. We were leaving the mouth of the Nile into the open sea. It all had to have been a dream.

“Morning Love.”

“Mr. Burvant?” I looked him over and stared into his eyes unsure of when I saw them last. “Where were you the day we left?”

“I had to put a few things in order.”

“Like what?”

“Important things my Love.”

“Important?” I questioned but pressed no further seeing that he wanted to keep his secrets. “Where is everyone?”

“Still asleep in their cabins. All of you had to be brought to the ship because you all were drunk. It must have been a fine party…” Mr. Burvant went on but I had stopped listening.

 It wasn’t a dream.

Everything that night had happened. Then I was a…

I had heard of the make believe ghost stories and tales about monsters. I rushed away to my room on the ship.

“Are you feeling ill?” He called out to me.

I waved a dismissive hand and carried on to my room. For the rest of the trip I stayed excluded from everyone else, only coming out to eat and get fresh air.

When we got to Italy I demanded that I had my own carriage. From what little I saw of my family they seemed lifeless as the lights were on but no one was home. Just going through the motions.

After days of traveling we had made it home and Egypt seemed like a far off land almost outside of reality.

Life had returned to normal for the most part, father went back to his work, Kinsley started new classes with a tutor, and mother went to gossip with the highbrow women. I tended to my garden, read books, and worked on painting, but all the while I question my own sanity.

I didn’t see Mr. Burvant in the first few days of our return and I missed him. I had grown fond of him during our time in Egypt and his absences sadden me. The following week he came to me.

I stood alone in my garden capturing its beauty on my canvas.

“Why do you always paint the flowers in your garden?”

“I work hard on my garden and these flowers won’t lasted forever, nothing does. It is the only way that I can keep them.” I said with my back still to him.

“You’re wrong, Gabrielle. There is something that does lasts forever. Do you know what that something is?” He said so passionately.

I turned to face him. I found him kneeling in the freshly watered grass in his best suit, but he didn’t seem to mind. In his hands he held a ring and his eyes stared directly into mine. I was at a lost for words.

“Love. Gabrielle, Love can last forever and this ring is proof of that.” He loved me; I was on the verge of tears because I was so happy. “I got it when we were  in Egypt that last day.  Its Lapis Lazuli, Egyptians believe that this stone posses life-giving power and that can keep our love strong.”

He took my hand and slid the dark blue ring on my finger.  Mr. Burvant pulled me into his arms, hugging me for the first time. I felt his heart beat beneath his chest and I smelled the wonderful aroma he was giving off. I buried  my face  in the crook of his neck and inhaled his scent.

“Gabrielle, my love…” He gasped as I bit into his throat.

He tried to fight back but instinct took over and I overpowered him. I drank until his body went limp. I pulled away from his body. I had got more of the blood on the two of us than what I drank. Blood ran down the front of my dress.

“I… I… I killed him.” I whispered to myself. I stood there shaking in front of his body lying on the ground. Through my tears I saw his finger twitch and again out of instinct I bit my own wrist to feed him my blood.

I watched him turn the body dies first. He convulsed a lot and cried out in pain. Then the body is reanimated. He looked at me when it was over. The look of betrayal on his face was enough to cut anyone down. Sleep over came him; his body had been through too much to stay conscious.

I ran away when he closed his eyes.

“My sister found me on her way to her home. She thought I was hurt because of all the blood on me. After I was cleaned up and she realized that I was okay. She asked how I got like that. So I told her everything, I had no reason to lie to her. But …she didn’t believe me.” Iris closed her eyes and inhaled deeply.

“ She thought I was crazy. She kept saying that I needed help and that I murdered him. We started yelling and I pushed her. I didn’t mean too I just wanted her to understand. I needed her to understand. She fell into a table and cut her hand on broken glass, there was so much blood.” Iris said with a shaky voice while tears rolled down her cheeks. She shuddered when she breathed.

“I attacked her.” She said with so much regret and pain. I wanted to say something to make her feel better but I was at a lost for words.

“Her husband Ian found us and he pulled me away from her. He held her in his arms but she looked at me. Asking me why. I kept telling her that I was sorry. She called out to me but before I could answer she died.” She stared at me trying to get me to understand that what happen was truly a mistake.

“Ian mourned her death and I watched helplessly. As anger set in he turned to me. He hit me and pinned me to the ground.  I tried to fight him off but he wouldn’t stop. So I bit him too. I couldn’t let him die so I turned him. In the months to follow I turned Roger and then Oliver as well. I killed countless people…” She has ever since that felt totally responsible for what happened to every one. Even the things she couldn’t control, things she had no clue would happen. Iris was carrying this weight on her shoulders alone.

“Is that why you don’t drink human blood?” I asked to help change the subject away from her sister and the others.

“Its too easy to get carried away and kill them.” She said sadly but had finally stopped crying.

“What ever happened to Mr. Burvant?” I asked out of pure curiosity.

“For the first few years I had no clue. But I’m sure you’ll meet him soon enough.” She rolled her eyes.

“How are you so sure?”

“I know things. You should get going, wouldn’t want to get caught by your parents.”

“Yeah.” I looked to the house. Only the dim glow from Susie’s television  showed any sign of life in the house. “Oh, um do you want the diary back?” I hadn’t read anymore of it since I met her the other day.

“No, it’s yours. Well I’ll see you tomorrow Aleck.” She smirked.

“Sure tomorrow…at school. Later Iris.”
