Chapter 2 To read or not to read
I look at the time on my phone, 4:28pm, and detection for today was almost over. I hid the diary in my book bag when nobody was around. Sure the right and easiest thing to do would be to just turn the dairy in, but something in my gut told me not too. There was just something out of place, who would really bring a dairy to school and be so careless to leave it behind.
"Alright! I will see all of you tomorrow at three sharp," Mrs. Needley said.
We filed out of the library and went our separate ways. I went straight home through a short cut I took when I couldn't bum a ride from Blake. I found my mom in the kitchen washing dishes when I got home.
"Why are you home so late?" My mom quizzed.
"Well hello to you too," I rolled my eyes.
"Aleck, you know better than to talk to me like that. Don't make me get your father," she warned.
"Sorry. I have just been having a bad day. I'm just going to go to my room."
"Fine. Tell you sister to come here."
I went upstairs without another word. I reached the top of the stairs and headed to my sister's room. May I mention that it is the biggest bedroom besides my parents'.She had out talked me into getting it. And get this, she's only twelve. I knock at the door, now how pathetic am I?
"Who goes there?" she calls from inside the room.
"Its me, mom wants you."
"I'm oh so sorry. I don't know any 'Me'. Are you sure your in the right place?"
"Susie, its Aleck, your older brother on the other side of the door and if you don't mind, our mother would like you to grace her with your presents," I sighed. Susie is such a brat. I waited for her to respond while I leaned up against the door. With no warning at all she opened it and I went to the floor.
"The name is Susan to the likes of you," she stepped over me and disappeared around the corner. I picked up what was left of my pride and went to my much smaller room. I threw my bag on the floor and stretched out on my bed.
"My life can't get any worse," I muttered under my breath. I'm tall, skinny, and lanky. I have golden brown hair; if it weren't for a flat iron I would be a curly Afro mess with bluish green eyes. I don't have much going on for me. I'm a dork and not the super naturally smart kind either, but I make decent grades or my parents would kill me. I only really have one friend, and that's Blake. When we were in fifth grade he said something that I found to be hilarious and milk shot out my nose. I can't for the life of me remember what he said but, we've been best friends ever since.
I look at my clock to find that I have been laying about for almost two hours now. I have homework to do, so I dragged myself out of bed and over to the desk. When I reached for my book bag the diary fell out.
I just watched it as if it were a Rattle Snake and was going to attack at any moment. I was knocked out of my trance when I heard banging coming from my door.
"Hey idiot! Mom called you to dinner like ten minutes ago," Susie yelled. Her fake British accent wasn't as good when she yelled.
