Ch. 51 Oh, Baby

I got a phone and rang psych.

"Psych. Do you need a consult?"

"Hi, it's Dr. Hamilton. I have a man here who would like to be admitted. Dr. Henley will know what I'm talking about if you tell her it's me."

"Hang on. I'll get her."

A minute later, she spoke, "Dr. Hamilton, you have an admission?"

"Yeah, it's Jake."

She was quiet for a moment. Then, she spoke, "Bring him up."

"Okay. We'll be up in a minute." I hung up and looked at Jake. "Okay. Let's go."

We went upstairs and found Dr. Henley.

"So you're not an undecided resident? You're psych?" Jake asked her.

She nodded.

"Okay." He looked at me. "You had her evaluate me?"

I hesitated. "I was worried."

He nodded.

"What made you decide you needed admitted?" Dr. Henley asked.

"I tried to strangle my wife," he spoke.

Dr. Henley looked at me. Her eyes narrowed in on my neck. "Oh, God. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

She nodded and looked at Jake. "Let's get in a room. I'll start you a chart."

She took us to a hospital room and handed me a bag and gown. "Put his belongings in here. He'll need to put the gown on."

I nodded. "Okay."

"And fill out his chart. You know how to do all of that. I'll be at the nurses' station."

I nodded.

She handed me a bin and closed the door.

"Okay. You know the drill. Strip."

He smirked.

"I'm serious. Take your clothes off."

He stood, getting very close to me. "Yes, ma'am."

I rolled my eyes. "Drop your pants, Jake."

He did and handed them to me.

I folded them up and put them in the bag. "Shirt."

He unbuttoned his shirt and handed it to me. Then, removed his undershirt.

I folded them and put them with his pants.

He was in nothing but his underwear.

I'd not seen him nearly naked since before he left for the war. I tried not to stare, making myself busy. I grabbed the bin with the soap and washcloth. "Come with me."

We went into the restroom.

"What are we doing?"

"I'm giving you a bath."

He rose a brow. "Why?"
