“It was…interesting.” I said thinking back to how Iris was turned and how she wanted to be human again.

“Interesting.” He wiggled his brows suggestively. “Did you even help her study or were you two just too busy keeping things…interesting?”

“Shut up. I meant interesting as in she’s…kinda weird but I just helped her study.” I lied.

“All hot girls are a little weird. That’s just common knowledge. If they’re not, they’re robots.” Blake said with a serious face.

“Robots? Really?”

“Yep! Roooooobots. Hot hottie hot robots.” He sighed.

“Wow okay. Do me a favor and stay in school.”

**************

I kept a look out for Iris all morning. It was weird because I could sense her around all day but I didn’t see her until she popped up on me during lunch.

“Hi Aleck.” She seemed like a totally different person in school. Well I guess she had reason to be. Outside of school she was Iris the three hundred something year old vampire who has been to hell and back, but here at school she was just Iris the seventeen year old an average high school girl.

“Hey.”

“They found the girl that Krepsley turned.”

“Oh, okay.” She sounded really excited. “I have been meaning to ask you who is Krepsley?”

“That’s not important right now. I’m sure you’ll meet him eventually.” She rolled her eyes. “I want you to meet the girl.”

“Why?”

“You’ll see.” She smirked. “When we get to my house.” She had an odd flirtatious tone.

 “Hi Blake.”

I turned my head to find Blake standing slightly behind me. “Hey Iris, Aleck.” He elbowed me in the side. When he took a seat next to me. “So what are you two talking about?”

“Nothing.” Iris said innocently with a smirk.

“Yeah, we weren’t really talking about anything.”

Blake opened his mouth to say something but Jessie cut him off. “Um…Hello. Who are you?” It was normally just me, Blake and Jessie who sat at our table.

“Iris.” She gave a quick smile.

“Jessie.” She returned the smile when she sat down beside Blake. “So you’re the girl Aleck was helpin’ out yesterday.” Iris nodded and so did I. There was a bit of an awkward silence but Jessie was quick to break it.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you the girl that used to go out with Jon Wampler before he was murdered?”  The question angered me but I didn’t show it. Iris on the other hand showed everything she was feeling on her face. The shock, fear, regret, and disgust.

“Ugh…yeah. I don’t like to talk about it though.”

“I’m sorry.” Jessie gave her a spring-loaded apology. She knew that her question would most likely upset Iris but she asked anyway because of the gossip she was.

“It’s s’okay. I’m gonna go.” Iris got up from the table.

“Iris… ” I was going to ask her to stay but the look she gave me told me not to ask. “I’ll see you later.”  She just nodded her head.

I stayed at the table until lunch was over. Jessie and Blake talked amongst themselves and ever now and then tried to get me to join in the conversation.
