Chapter 10. Back.

"Hey Selena, I hope my question didn't make you feel uncomfortable," Eugenia said, with a hint of concern in her voice.

"No, not at all," Selena replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

"So, what do you say then?" Eugenia leaned in, intrigued.

"Can I get back to you on that?" Selena hesitated for a moment before asking,

"Of course, there's no pressure for you to answer me," Eugenia reassured her.

"Thank you," Selena said, grateful for the understanding.

"I need to tell you something kinda important," Selena said, biting her lip nervously.

"What is it?" Eugenia's heart skipped a beat.

"I slept with someone else. It happened a few days ago," Selena confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Oh, okay. That's good to know," She replied, trying to remain calm.

"I wanted to tell you before you found out before I could," Selena explained, her eyes pleading for understanding.

"Thank you for being honest with me," Eugenia said, a small smile forming on her lips.

"You're welcome," Selena replied, relieved that the truth was finally out.

Eugenia was about to ask if there was anything else Selena wanted to talk about. She noticed her ex looking down at the floor.

"I haven't talked to him," She said.

"I wasn't thinking that at all," Eugenia said, trying to reassure Selena.

Selena put a finger under her chin, lifting it up to meet Eugenia's gaze. She exhaled deeply, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders.

"You can tell me anything. I won't get mad," Selena whispered.

"I thought you would reconcile with him after our breakup," Eugenia said.

"That would never happen. You are the only one I want and will ever want to be with," Selena replied.

"I was really worried that you would eventually leave me. That's why I ended our relationship," Eugenia said, looking at the floor once more.

"You ended our relationship because you thought I would leave you for him," Selena said, shaking her head.

"I felt like I wasn't what you deserved at that moment, Selena," Eugenia said, a tear rolling down her cheek.

"You are what I deserve. I love you so much more now than before. I'm so sorry that you felt that way," Selena said, cupping Eugenia's face and wiping away the tear.

Selena's heart shattered when she heard Eugenia speak like this. She couldn't understand that Eugenia believed she would go back to Justin after he broke her heart, knowing she would never do such a thing.

Selena didn't even consider talking to him after what happened. She ran her hand through her hair and bit her lip softly.

"I love you too. Promise me I was the best you ever had," Eugenia said, her voice filled with emotion.

"I promise you, being with you was way better than anyone else I've ever dated," She said, her eyes sparkling with love.

"I was a complete mess without you. Nobody else could even come close to how I feel about you," She said, her voice barely above a whisper and nudged her nose against Selena's and smiled.

"I tried going out with other people. I had to pretend to be happy with loved ones, but I just couldn't hide it anymore," She said, her voice cracking.

"I ignored anyone who mentioned your name and was rude and disrespectful to people around me. It started to make me feel bad about how things ended between us. I started acting recklessly to cope with leaving you, Selena," Eugenia said, her breath shaky.

"Losing you was the worst thing I've ever experienced in my entire life," Selena said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"You are everything to me," She said, her voice filled with emotion.

"I have loved you long before today. All I know is that I will continue loving you until the day I meet my maker," She said, looking directly into Selena's eyes.

Their lips met in a passionate kiss, their arms wrapped tightly around each other. Eugenia smiled against Selena's lips, her heart overflowing with love as they pulled away, Selena stepped back.

"I need to go to sleep," She said, her voice soft.

"Have a good night, Selena," Eugenia said, walking out of the bedroom and leaving the house.

Selena sat down on the bed, closed her eyes, and pulled the covers tighter around her body. As she drifted off to sleep, knew that Eugenia was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
