"Are you ready to go?" Selena asked, stepping out of the car to open the passenger's side door.

"I'm ready," Eugenia replied, stepping out and closing the door.

As they walked into the restaurant, Selena led the way to the hostess stand. She smiled.

"Reservation for two under Gomez," She said.

"Right this way, ladies," The hostess replied with a smile.

As they were seated at their table, Selena pulled out Eugenia's chair. She pushed it in for her.

"Thank you," Eugenia said, feeling grateful for Selena's kindness.

"Your welcome," Selena said.

"How did you find this place?" Eugenia asked, trying to make conversation.

"My roommates took me a while back," Selena replied.

They talked for a while. The conversation flowed easily between them.

"Maybe you can share another story for another time?" Eugenia suggested with a soft smile.

"Yeah, probably in the near future," She replied.

"Okay," Eugenia said.

"Hey, are you ready to go?" Selena asked.

Eugenia nodded and put her card down, waiting for the check. She stood up from the table, feeling grateful for the enjoyable evening with her.

Selena gracefully exited the restaurant, making her way towards the car, while disregarding the barrage of questions being thrown at her. Selena drove with a heavy heart to Eugenia's house.

As she stepped out of the car and approached the front porch, a wave of uncertainty washed over her. She found herself at a loss for words, unsure of how to proceed in that moment.

Just as their lips were about to meet, Selena's cell phone erupted from within her purse. Letting out a frustrated groan, rummaged through her bag to answer the call.

"What?!" She exclaimed, clearly bothered by the interruption.

"Hello to you too," Courtney replied, rolling her eyes.

"Hey, what's up, Court?" Selena asked, trying to regain her composure.

"I'm craving some food, but I'm too lazy to go get it myself," Courtney explained.

"You're lucky I'm in a good mood tonight," Selena replied, her irritation fading.

"Love you!" Courtney exclaimed.

"I love you too," Selena said, ending the call and turning her attention back to Eugenia.

"Are you leaving so soon?" Eugenia asked, a hint of disappointment in her voice.

"Yeah, I'm really sorry," Selena apologized sincerely.

"Hey, it's alright," Eugenia reassured her, offering a comforting smile.

"I'm sorry about earlier in the car. I had no idea that my ex-boyfriend would show up," Selena explained, her voice filled with regret.

"It's fine. Have a good night," Eugenia said, walking inside her house and closing the door behind her.

As she drove to her apartment with takeout, she couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. She sighed as she walked into the living room and saw her friend, Courtney, waiting for her to hand over the bag.

"Hey, Sel," Courtney said, trying to sound cheerful.

"Why did you have to call me during my date?!" She screamed at her friend.

"You decided to answer the phone. You could've ignored my call." She said and tried to explain.

"I was going to kiss her when you called me," Selena said, feeling defeated.

"Wait, I interrupted your moment with your date?" Courtney asked, realizing her mistake.

"Yeah, you did, Court!" Selena yelled before walking away from her friend.

"I'm really sorry. I didn't know that!" Courtney called out.

Selena laid down on her bed, trying to fall asleep, but her mind was racing with thoughts of Eugenia and the missed opportunity for a kiss. She pulled the blanket over her body, feeling lost and unsure of how to fix things with Eugenia.

As she drifted off to sleep, she snored softly, her body moving around as she tried to find a comfortable position. After a few hours, opened her eyes, still feeling the weight of the missed moment with Eugenia.

As Selena let out a deep sigh and got out of bed, she felt a sense of exhaustion weighing heavily on her. She made her way to the kitchen for a glass of water, hoping to quench her thirst and ease her mind.

Suddenly, she was startled by the sight of Eugenia standing in the living room. She looked at her and rubbed her eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Selena whispered, approached her friend.

"I needed to do something earlier."  Eugenia cupped Selena's face and replied.

Before Selena could finish her sentence, Eugenia's lips were pressed against hers. Overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment, Selena wrapped her arms around Eugenia's waist and kissed her back.

As they parted, Eugenia grinned and Selena couldn't help but smile too. The kiss had been more than just a physical act, and they both knew it.

Eugenia took a step back and pecked Selena's lips once more. She smiled.

"That was even better than I expected it would be." Eugenia said.

"Did that just happen?" Selena asked in shock.

"I kissed you and I liked it." Eugenia chuckled and replied.

"I'm too tired for song references right now." Selena rolled her eyes playfully and joked.

As Eugenia said her goodbyes and left, Selena couldn't believe what had just happened. She walked to her bedroom, still feeling the warmth of Eugenia's lips on hers.

With a huge smile spreading across her face, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. She felt grateful for the unexpected moment of connection.
