birthday wishes // tyler joseph

TYLERS POV-

it is y/n's birthday in less than 24 hours.
about a week ago I asked her what she wanted for her birthday.
she said 100 kisses, a birthday cake shaped like a penis or a puppy.
I didn't know what to choose.
100 kisses was bound to happen anyway and a penis shaped cake would be hilarious but I'm a terrible baker.....and cook.
I can only make water and pb & j.
so maybe I'll ask someone else to make it for me.
but anyway the only really good gift is a puppy...right?
we always talk about getting one.
I just want to see y/n happy and I'd do anything for her.
so I got one.

I went to the shelter 20 minutes away from our house.
when I got inside I walked down the isles and tried to find one that fit our personalities.
after almost an hour of searching I found one.
it was in the last kennel so no one really paid this one much attention.
it was black and with light brown eyes.
he was laying down staring at me.
I saw the paper on the dog attached to the fencing and read it.
it is a boy.
he is a Labrador retriever.
he's less than 7 months old.
and his name was Josh.
which I new y/n would repulse over that name so I'll let her pick the name when the time comes.

i asked a volunteer if I could see this one.
she nodded and brought "no longer Josh" out of his cage.
I decided he is the puppy I want to give y/n.
when I got to the cashier counter to pay.
I said, "I'll take "Josh", a carrier kennel, and a bag of dog food, please."
after being rung up i went to my car and put "no longer Josh" in the front seat and drove home.
when I got home I took the carrier out and then the penis cake.
I opened the door and snuck to the fridge to put the cake in a safe, cool place y/n doesn't go.
after that I decided to give her "no longer Josh" now.
I wanna see her face light up in surprise.

YOUR POV-

around 5:00pm you were interrupted from watching tv when you heard the door open.
you jump up and say "tyler is that you?"
"yeah baby. it's just me." tyler replied.
you sat back down.
a couple minutes later you heard some rustling.
"everything okay over there Ty?"
"yeah. uhh I'll be right there."
you roll your eyes and chuckle.
while you were watching tv you felt a pair of eyes on you.
you turned around and saw tyler holding a black puppy.
"happy early birthday babe!"
you scream and run over towards them.
"oh, tyler you didn't have to do this! it's a puppy! it's so cute! ty, your so cute! oh my god!
"wanna hold him?"
"of course! what is his name?"
"it was Josh but-" you cut tyler off.
"oh god no! not anymore he's not."
tyler chuckled and ran his fingers through his hair.
"hmmmm. what about zero?"
"I like that, it fits."

*early morning*

you woke up to tyler singing to you at 6:00am.
"happy birthday dear y/n happy birthday to you! wake upppppppp!"
you groggily sat up and rubbed my eyes.
when my vision cleared tyler was standing at the foot of my bed with Zero in one hand and the penis cake I asked for in another.
he set Zero on the bed and pulled a card out of his back pocket.
he handed it to me.
"open it."
it read.
"happy birthday to my favorite girl in the world (my mom is a close second). I'm glad that you have stayed with me for so long through all my troubles and stupid jokes. I wouldn't wanna spend my life with anyone else. I love you with all my heart.
