Buck and eddie have a fight after eddie notices buck stoped talking to him

Eddie was happy Shannon was back. Chris seemed happy and he tried to make it as great as he could. He took her to places and let her spend time with chris.

He thought everything was fine but then one day it changed. He walked into work and he couldn't find buck.

He had noticed buck wasn't talking as much as he usually did but he was too busy to think about it.

He looked for buck and when breakfast time came he got more worried.

"Has anyone seen buck?" Eddie asks and gets an eye roll from hen and chimney gives him a pitty look.

"Now you wonder where he is?" Bobby asks his voice soft but his tone said he wasn't happy

"What?" Eddie asked not understanding.

"Buck hasn't eaten with us in over a week and you just now notice?" Bobby says and eddie is confused

Buck hasn't been eating with them? He looked around and suddenly buck came upstairs. He didn't look at anyone or speak just walked to the couch and sat down.

Hen and chimney tried to talk to him but they didn't get a response. Eddie dicided he needed to fix it so at the end of their shift eddie makes sure to  stop buck before he could leave the locker room

"Hey you wanna come over this friday?" Eddie asks trying to ask buck to come over so they can talk

Buck doesn't look at him "sorry I've got plans" Buck said his voice was a shell of ehat it usually is

Buck is usually bright and happy. Loud and proud but now he just sounded tired and defeated.

Eddie knew buck didnt actually have plans. The last they had talked buck wasn't dating anyone so he was sure buck didn't have plans

Before eddie could try and press buck was rushing out. He tried to follow but buck was too fast and was pulling out the parking lot before eddie could get to his car.

Eddie keeps trying to talk to buck through the week but buck keeps avoiding him and cutting him off

When Friday came around eddie was irritated. He didn't understand why buck was shutting him out.

Shannon had to travel home for the weekend and chris was going to his abuela's so eddie dicides he was going to confront buck

Be drove up to his apartments. He walked inside and to buck's door. He wondered for a moment if maybe he really did have plans but knocked anyway.

He was proven right when buck answered a beer in hand. His hair was messy, his eyes looked sunken in like he hadn't slept in weeks

He looks suprised to see eddie. Eddie walks into the apartment before buck can try and send him away.

"Why are you shutting me out?" Eddie asks sick of not being able to talk to buck

Buck looked like he was going to change the subject so eddie pressed harder

"Why? Just tell me" eddie says and buck breaks.

"I'm not shutting you out. I'm stepping back. I'm making space because I know she is back and that means I'm not needed anymore" Buck says his voice cracking.

"Why would you think that buck?" Eddie said confused.

"Because it's true. In the beginning I tried to hangout thinking I could still have a place but no. Everytime it was sorry have plans with Shannon and sorry Shannon wants to do this or Shannon wants to do that. After a month I just gave up" Buck said honestly and eddie felt sick

He knew he had been spending a lot of time with her but a whole month? He didn't hangout with buck for a whole month?

Before eddie could speak buck was talking but his voice softer now more broken. "You let her take him to see the penguins when me and him made plans almost a year ago. You took her to watch movies we had planned to watch together" Buck says and doesn't look at eddie.

Eddie thinks about it and knows buck is right. He started replacing buck with Shannon because he wanted his son to have a mom. Now he saw how much it hurt buck.

"I knew it would happen eventually. Everyone finds something better then me" buck's words make eddie suprised.

Buck is now holding his face as he starts to cry. Eddie feels like shit. He caused this. It was his fault buck felt like this

Eddie doesn't think he just steps closer and hugs buck. "I'll never replace you. Chris loves you so much. So do I." Eddie says softly

Buck is obviously suprised. "What?"  Buck says as he pulls back to look at buck

"I got caught up in having Shannon around because chris would have his mom and that's not ok. He misses you and so do I." Eddie says taking a deep breath

"Me and Shannon are getting a divorce" eddie says shocking buck again

"What? Why?" Buck asks wide eyed

"We realized thst we both moved on or at least I did" eddie said looking at buck

"She is going home today. Chris will go visit her during the summer but I will still have full custody" eddie said and felt a little relieved that someone knew

"But why? You two seemed so happy" Buck asks

"Because I didn't love her anymore I had found someone else" eddie said and saw buck look upset again

"Oh" Buck says obviously assuming that meant he was still getting replaced

"It's you" eddie said and buck gasped

"Eddie what are you talking about?" Buck asks taken back by Eddie's words

"I made you chris' legal gardian and there was a reason. You take care of chris. You help me raise him just like a parent would. I mean you litterslly are the captain of the pta group for chris' school. You go with him to every fieldtrip" eddie says and can't help it because buck truly is amazing

"Eddie i." Buck starts but cuts himself off

"I know it doesn't make up for what I did. You were looking forward to the penguins. When we were there chris just kept wanting you. He didn't even enjoy himself so maybe we can take him" eddie says and buck seems to think about it before nodding

"As for the movie maybe we can make it a date. Sit on my couch under some blankets are dinner and we can watch it" eddie says nervously

"Yes. I've been in love with you for so long" Buck says and they hug again.

When they pull away eddie kisses buck softly. Bucks kisses back and eddie thinks he made the right call.

Shannon will always be chris' mother but she wasn't Eddie's other half buck was.
