Cry Later

As I leave you here today
Please don't shout out my name
Or pick flowers for my grave
Nor cry standing where I lay

Instead, rejoice,
Reach out and touch the stars
Sitting with me in the sky,
The wind howling in my voice

So, look forward to all the days
You'll spend without me
And how much better they will be
Thinking back on how I was with you, always

Time wasted is time lost
But we didn't waste any time
We spent every grain of sand in the Hourglass
Time spent is Love returned after all

And remember, I'm not going anywhere now
You always know where to find me
About six feet down
Is where I'll forever be

When it rains, think of me as a flower
And when the sun shines, think of me as a golden field
When the winds blow, I am a shelter
And when the snow falls, I am your warmth

I'm six feet under the ground
But you can't lose me like this
There will be no space between us
I'm always with you, safe and sound

Don't cry or weep or tremble slow
Though I know you're feeling low
Like all good things, they come and go
But fallen leaves allow the tree to grow

Let me be alive through you
Let me feel through your touch
Let me see with your eyes
Let me be the sun shining up in your skies

Laugh, thinking how silly I looked in that suit
Joke, how heavy the casket was to carry
Grumble, about stuffy suits and stupid ties and tight dresses and painful shoes

Be happy, so when they finally cover me with dirt
I'll know I'm leaving you in good spirits
And maybe the next time we meet
We can cry then
