My sad expression brightened with just one message from him saying "ok."
I smile at my phone and get ready for the club, hoping my evening will be enjoyable with J. She has sharp instincts; she'll notice any unusual behavior, so I have to act perfectly around her. Tears well up in my eyes at the thought of lying to my one and only friend.
I put on my cute ash grey pullover dress and admire myself in it. I miss the days when J and I used to party all night without a care in the world. I snap out of my thoughts when my phone buzzes.
"Hey, Ray."
"Hey, I was just getting bored. Can we go out?" Ray sounded bored, but I'm surprised when she called me at this time. She must be going to meet her boyfriend, as she told me. Although she's a very nice person, I'm more amused by her. It's just been a few days since she joined the office as an intern, but it seems like she knows everything already. She's mingled with everyone so easily. So carefree in her own way.
"Hello, Violet, are you there?"
"Yes, yes, sorry, just zoned out."
"So, are you thinking about ways to deny? If yes, then don't reason me, just say it."
"No, no, Ray. My bestie and I are going to the club. You can join us if you wish."
"Are you sure about this? Because I don't want to ruin your plans if you have any."
"J is nice, Ray. She would be happy to meet you."
I had a little chat with Ray about the dress and about J, how she is and why she's so possessive. I'm happy today; I'll have some stress-free night.it almost time for heading out so i called j while ray was waiting for me in her car after so much protest i agreed to go with her to club

We reached the nearest daylight club, which is close and really famous. It's a really nice place with separate sections where I can be more comfortable and not be the center of attention for drunk partygoers. We wait for J to arrive; she knows where to find me in any club, which is why she's my favorite person in the world.
We both sat on the couch chatting when I sense a weird feeling growing in my stomach, as if someone's eyes are on me. I looked around, but there was no one to be found, yet I still sense the glares on me. It's kind of similar; there's no threat, but I can feel the gaze on my body. It's usually normal in these kinds of places, but with J not here yet, I'm a bit cautious today. My mind keeps ticking with thoughts of J.
I hope J will come soon so I can feel some protection. I hate myself for feeling so vulnerable around strangers.
