The me I was
Before that time came
And I was twisted
Warped by circumstances
Out of my control
A place that was once my home
Turned into a gilded cage

I will never be
The girl who you once knew
Who laughed easily
Smiled all the time
And danced in the rain
Through the agony and pain
The one who laughed when there was
Nothing left to gain

I will never be her
Never again
Because my pain killed her
Tore her apart, buried her deep
Locked her up in a cage
So terrible and bleak

I'll never be
Who you thought I could be
And who you loved before
Time warped me
And made me who I am today
