You know what the difference is between your bad days and mine? Both of ours are constant. Forever haunting the actions of our future selves. Engrained into our memories and in the back of our closets in a box with "do not open" carved—nay, scratched—messily into them. Sealed with lies and promises of change and chained shut—conveniently with the same chains that bind us as well. But the only difference, the only real difference between your bad days and mine? I let yours remain in the shadows, where they rightfully belong. But as content as you are that I've left them there, you feel just as content with dragging mine out. Into the spotlight, no less. You bend them to your will, use them to win your arguments. My protector now holds the key to destroying me. To bury me in my deepest thoughts with the help of a single word. "Mother."
