Chapter 7 I guess I'm coming over

Start from the beginning

“They let me pick the house this time. It spoke to me. I love that it has that tower there.” She looked to me smiling, but it quickly disappeared. “ Look when we go in there you have to stay close to me.”

“Why?” I asked, but then realizing how idiotic of a question that was.  If she really was a vampire, there would be more vampires in there.

“Just do as I say.”

She unlocked the front door and usher me in and closed the door again. The sounds of footsteps were closing in on us.

“Gabrielle? Is that you?” Someone called. “Gabrielle?” The voice I recognized to be a woman’s was coming closer. But with only the one voice I heard footsteps of many.

“Don’t say anything.” Iris whispers to me as the woman turns the corner.

The woman was beautiful. She looked to be only in her early 30’s. She had fiery blue eyes, rich dark chocolate brown hair and silky ivory skin. I noticed that she was carrying a child about two or three years old and another stood beside her about seven or eight years old. Both of the boys’ eyes matched her fierce ones.

“Gabrielle, I thought you said you didn’t do that. Let alone to have it be done in the house.” The woman said with a smirk. The two boys were watching my every movement.

“Penelope, I would never do that and it is not what he is here for.” Iris gestured to me.

“Then what is he here for?”

“He’s my 37.”

“Again with this? How many times are you going do this, until you finally give up? It’s never worked before what makes him so different. Does he even know what you are?”

“This is the last time that I am going to try.”

“Good. You have ruined enough people’s lives with your foolishness. They say wisdom comes with age but that really isn’t the case with you!”

“You’re one to talk!” Iris looked to the boys.

“I did it to save them. They would have died if I hadn’t.You do the things you do for you and only you.”

“Shut up!”I stepped around Iris and I was now standing in front of her. “Iris doesn’t need that from you. She is a good person and doesn’t to be talked to like that.” What the Hell. Why did I just do that? Why did I just say that?

“Hmm. My, Mr.37 is reacting much faster that the others.” She said to Iris as she places a cold finger under my chin. Her face was close to mine. I could smell the sweetness that rolled of her breath as she spoke to me. “I can talk to Gabrielle however I want. I am her mother after all.”

“What?” I looked to Iris and she nodded.

“Mommy is it food?” The child in Penelope’s arms asked. My eyes grew wide. Was I the ‘it’ he was referring to? He sure was looking at me.

Penelope let out a dark laugh. “No, my darling. He is another one of Gabrielle’s pets.”

“Like Flint?” The older boy looked up to her when he asked.

“Yes, just like Flint.” Penelope pats him on the head. “Gabrielle…”

“Penelope, stop calling me Gabrielle. My name is Iris now.”

“I’ll call you Iris, when you call me mother.”

“Your not my mother anymore.”

“DNA begs to differ.” She says bitterly then walks off with the child in her arms and the other trailing behind her.

“Are they your brothers?”

“No, I only have one brother, Kinsley. Penelope always wanted lots of children but couldn’t after she turned. So Tristian and Avery are now her children… She turned them.”

Iris added at the end. She must have noticed my confused look.

“Who’s Flint?” I asked as Iris led me up a set of stairs at the end of the foyer.

“Hmm?” She wasn’t listening to me. I guess she was just making sure we didn’t run into anyone else.

“Who’s Flint?” I took her arm so she would listen. “ Your mother said he was a pet to you and that I was like him. What did she mean?”

She opened her mouth to answer but closed it again. “I tell you when we get in my room.”

Once we made it to the second floor, we walked down a long hallway that branched off to different rooms. Iris opened the very last door at the end of the hall.

“More stairs?”

“My room is in the top of the tower.” Iris said.

I followed her up the spiral set of stairs until we met a lily-white wooden door. Whose knob had very intricate and detail work done to it.

Before she even reached for the knob, it began to turn and the door opened.

“Hello Iris. I’m glad to see you’re back.”
