Chapter 10- Look At What You've Gotten Yourself Into

- Jake's POV -

Forget that stupid letter! I am on my own now! Deep in the... woods. How did I get here? Whatever. I'm sure I'll find my way out eventually. I mean, I wanted to escape from my worries, right? This is for the best! I'm sure of it! I have everything I need, my jacket, my stupidly large water bottle, cheez-itz, what else could I need? Well if someone were here with me they would say that I need my brain, but what do they know about me? I am free. Finally. Free. I am deep in these woods. I can probably find squirrels to eat. I mean, they can't taste that bad, right? Or I could eat rabbit. Why are these always the fastest animals to catch? Whatever. I'm sure I can manage.

I definitely CANNOT manage! It's been 4 hours and I already cut myself 4 times trying to get that dang rabbit! I'll just take my water bottle and go smash that rabbit! I know it isn't a good idea to leave my backpack and all here, and my cheez-itz. But, I must be fast to catch this rabbit. Now, I need my flashlight! Wha- Where is my phone!? I had it after school... oh don't tell me. I must've dropped it! Or one of those stupid bullies stole it! I had it.. in the halls. Dang it Jake! Someone could have taken it or broken it! Or just left it there. It's about 7 o'clock. I need proper food- those stupid people and knocking over my ice cream! I may not even be hungry if they hadn't pushed me. Wait- my cheez-itz- but I am too far away from them and so close to the rabbit! I just gotta run and hit it with this stupidly heavy and big water bottle.

- Gasp -

Ouch! Owwww it hurts so badly! No way I just fell into this hole. It's like what.. 12 feet deep? Bruh! I am gonna die! I think I broke my foot. I wouldn't be lying if I said it hurts like hell had just devoured me. Now the only thing keeping me alive is this water. I have no food and I'll probably die here. My thoughts are calm but at the same time panicking! I am gonna die! There is no way I don't die here. Please someone... help me. I didn't want to die here just yet.

- Milo's POV -

M: " Mom..? Why are you crying? "

JM: " Uh.. I'm not! I am fine Milo! "

M: " Well you're crying. That's not fine. "

JM: - sigh -

What could be up with Mom? Why is she crying? Is it happy tears? No she definitely looks like the most hurt Mother I've ever seen in my life. I wonder what's wrong. I NEED to know what's wrong.

M: " Mom, please tell me! I can help! "

JM: " Okay... It's about Jake. "

M: " What happened to Jake? "

JM: " He hasn't come home from school! I'm afraid something happened to him! "

M: " What!? "

JM: " I know. I am really worried! "

M: " Have you tried calling someone? "

JM: " I called HIM! Many times! And then I called the police. They said that they will look for him when they have the chance to. "

M: " Why don't we look for ourselves? He couldn't have gone too far! He's probably at the mall or something. "

JM: " Why don't we wait until tomorrow to look? That way we know for sure he is missing. "

M: " That is stupid but smart at the same time. After all, we are Sterlings. "

JM: " Awh. You make me happy, Milo. But nothing could ever take away the worries a Mother has everyday. "
