❀ Kim's POV

I gently tap on the door and peek inside.

“May I come in?”

She looks up from the book she's reading and grins.

“Kimberly! Of course, come on in!” she chirps.

I chuckle and enter.

“Just Kim, Noelle” I tell her.

She nods and puts the book away. Her hair was in a messy bun and she had a colorful 'I Believe In Unicorns'  shirt on.

“Did Vanessa give you that?” I laugh.

She looks down at her shirt and chuckles.

“Not exactly” she answers.

I nod.

“I brought you flowers” I announce and place the bouquet in her arms.

She sniffs it and lets out a satisfied sigh.

“They smell great thank you.”

I hand her another bag.

“What's this?”

“Oh just a snack” I reply.

She takes the bag and peeps inside.

“Is that wine and a cheeseburger?” she asks with an amused look.

“Yep. It's great. You'll love it” I tell her.

She chuckles and sets it aside.

“So, how's your hand?” I ask.

Her expression changes.

“Nerve damage” she answers. “The doctor said I'm going to be in here for a while.”

“Well yes, your nerves need to heal” I say to her and gently poke the bandage around her wrist. “What else did he say?”

“That I need a lot of rest, icing, physical therapy.”

“Well Doctor Shaun knows what he's doing so don't worry.”

She furrows her brows at me.

“Wait are you also...”

“No, no” I laugh. “I'm a pediatrician.”

She looks at me.

“Is that why you have your lab coat inside out?”

I look down and let out an embarrassed groan.

“I'm so sorry” I chuckle, dying of embarrassment, and fix it.

Noelle smiles at me.

“Hey, Keith told me what you did. Thank you for standing up for me when you barely knew me.”

“I still barely know you” I say, making her laugh. “But I'll tell you what I told your husband and everyone else in that room three days ago; I know a good person when I see one. And you've got a really good heart.”

She smiles and reaches out for my hand. I take it and give a gentle pat.

“Now, how about I...”

“Hey, I got you that new...”

I turn and see Keith. Noelle smiles brightly at him, but his eyes never leave mine.

“I didn't know you were back to work” he says to me. “Or visiting Noelle.”

I shake my head.

“I was just leaving” I smile at Noelle, letting go of her hand.

“Hey, stay a little longer” she says to me.
