Updating Security

For a brief moment the base had lost power and the lights flickered as Ultrons AI began to install itself into the security protocols.

After the lights returned to full brightness Ultrons eyes opened again with their blue glow returning. "It is done. I am now fully integrated into the bases security protocols, I can debrief you all on the upgrades that are available and can account for any new security devices to be incorporated." Ultron spoke.

"Really? So anything new we can just add it right away?" Electra asked.

"Affirmative. As long as I am able to integrate it into myself it will be fully operational." He clarified.

The team was amazed by the measures their security could attain, they would certainly be able to fortify their defences without risk now thanks to Ultron. Maybe adding Ultron to their roster wasn't such a bad idea after all.

"Great, you can debrief us on the upgraded security later." Peter suggested which Ultron nodded in agreement.

"Well... if that's everything then I think we can call this meeting adjourned." Felicia said.

They group nodded with no objections from anyone, and one by one the holographic projections of the others who were not present faded.

"Alright then. Back to work everyone." Felicia dismissed them.

"Peter?" Soria called to him before he could leave with the rest.

"Yea?" He answered curiously.

"If you wouldn't mind... I would like to discuss something with you in private." She asked a bit meekly, a strange turnabout to her abrasive attitude from before.

"Sure thing." He agreed staying behind with her as everyone began to leave the meeting room.

Felicia was the last to leave, giving Peter a slight squeeze on his shoulder and a gentle look signifying his good luck for what Soria was looking to talk to him about.

"Soo... what did you want to talk about?" Peter asked.

"It's... about your world... about your worlds version of me. You recognised me when we first met, so I assume you've seen me in your world before." Adriana assumed.

"Yes. I've met you in my world." He confirmed with a slight dejected tone.

"I also know that in your world... the heroes are villains, and the villains are heroes. A complete opposite to this world." She continued.

"Yea." He simply replied knowing where this was going.

"What was I like... in your world?" She finally asked.

With a deep bated sigh Peter relented in telling her of his worlds counterpart. "Well, as you guessed... you were a villain." He began gently.

"You tried to take over New York by turning everyone into spider monsters. Actually the first time we met you turned me into one aswell." He explained.

"R-really? I tried to... take over New York. And turned you... into a monster." She said shocked.

"Yeah. You actually came quite close to succeeding, but when that plan failed you became a giant spider monster yourself trying to destroy us... then my brother Kaine... killed you." He finishes telling her.

Soria clasped her hands over her mouth in pure shock. She already thought that she would be a villain, and hearing that she tried to take over New York was surprising, but to know she went to such great lengths and was even killed was complete shock and horrorful to her.

"So... I-I'm dead." She breathed out quietly.

Peter nodded not wanting to say anymore than he needed to.

"Why? Why would I do something like that?" She asked wanting to know why she would be a villain.

"You... you were crazy. And you were betrayed." He answered cryptically.

"And what dose that mean? I was betrayed? By who?" She asked slightly angrily.

"You were experimented on, exposed to radiation to try and give you powers... you were the only survivor. And because you didn't show any signs of powers... you were locked away and slowly driven to insanity by your powers awakening." He explained what he was told by Captain America when they first encountered Adriana for the first time.

"So... I was just an experiment... and tossed aside when they were finished." She said dejectedly.

"I'm sorry Adriana. But it wasn't your fault. Or... the other yous fault." He tried to comfort.

"I... I know. It's just... hard to take in." She admitted.

"Sorry." She said excusing herself from the room and quickly leaving him alone in the meeting room.

Tears streamed down her face when she got out of the room, hearing how bad things were for her in his world, how much of a villain she had become... and finally... how she was killed for it all. It was too much to handle for her, she wanted to know surely, but this wasn't what she expected to hear.

She wanted to try and get to know him, to patch things up between them from before he died and she left to be alone, but she couldn't fix that. She had caused so much damage to him in his world that she couldn't just try to be with him again.

She called herself Spider-Queen, and by all rights he was her Spider-King, but there was no chance they could work things out.
