~Adria~

It was a rainy night when sister Miriam carried me in her arms through a hallway. I remember how I cried till my voice got hoarse; she would pat my back and tell me that everything would be okay, that I would be safe. Nevertheless, I couldn't take my mind off of the image of that strange woman with a veil over her head who had walked away.

I don't have any memories of my life before that night, but when I heard Namor call me ki'ichpan, I suddenly remembered something; the sweet voice of a woman accompanied by that feeling of comfort. I didn't know I longed for such a feeling till today when my eyes drowned in tears.

I wiped my eyes without Namor noticing, then walked right behind him.

"Griot doesn't talk with just anyone."

I warned him.

"I know."

"So, you have been here a lot?"

"A few times."

It's amazing how he's been close to my sister and yet I didn't know of his existence.

Griot gave Namor a full summary of Shuri's recent research. These marine creatures were a mystery to the world, an enigma yet to find its source. No creature is formed from nothing, but these monsters appeared out of nowhere.

Their strength and size were superior to any other creature, and their behavior didn't resemble any other marine creature. They were intelligent and constantly learning from their surroundings.

Namor wasn't liking any of this. He frowned and kept on gripping the edge of a table.

"And what did you find about them?"

I asked him. He snapped out of his thoughts and turned back to me, looking somewhat puzzled.

"They react to certain sounds."

"What sounds?"

"Sometimes we can feel vibrations followed by an extremely sharp noise."

"Where do they come from?"

"I don't know, but these creatures react to it. They retreat whenever it happens but... I saw one of them die."

"Die? The sound killed it?"

"It appears so."

The computer took those details into its database, but none of that information answered his question. Where did they come from? Hopefully, the body of the monster he just killed at the river would give them more answers.

"So... what do you think about these monsters?"

I asked him. He seemed to have an idea but wouldn't say a word about it.

"This isn't a natural occurrence. Marine life and people on the coasts are in danger. With these strange sounds controlling them, I can assume that they are the creation of someone."

He glanced back at the image of one of the beasts in front of him, his expression unreadable.

"Someone is trying to play God."

He added.

We spent a few hours going back and forth with Griot till sunrise. I sat on a couch nearby, feeling like my eyes were closing on their own while Namor had all the energy in the world. He kept pacing back and forth, asking new questions that could give him clues.

"Princess..."

Namor called as he stood; he sounded so endearing. Shuri was back along with Okoye. Both gave me a look that made me want to run away. I knew I shouldn't have brought him in here without their permission, but I trusted him, and he saved me.
