Heyyyy guys, so it's not Wednesday..... but it's not saturday either! Here's the other part to ch 42. I think this one's a much better ending.

“your majesty’s decision was wise and appropriate. I thank you for seeking justice on our behalf” A melodious voice drifted out from the back of the room. I narrowed my eyes at Lillian who hadn’t spoken a single word since I’d sat down. The supreme queen directed her question to everyone, why was Lillian speaking like she represented us all?.

Lillian was seated between two princesses and looked slightly worse for wear, almost as if she hadn’t faced the same battle we all had.

“If I may, I’d like to show my thanks by extending an invitation to your majesty” what is she up to?

The supreme queen smiled softly “that is not needed child but I’m willing to grant your request”

Lillian got up and moved to the head of the table bowing when she was a few feet in front of the supreme queen. “I formally invite your majesty, the Supreme queen to the half way point of the trials taking place at the academy tomorrow”. The trials referred to the series of competitions and tests the academy held to determine the supreme queen’s successor. Other than the students and the parents of the competitors, the participants themselves were allowed to invite two guests each.

“That’s right” the third man spoke again, reaching out to take the invitation Lillian held out “There will be 2 more competitions after which the final contenders for the throne will be chosen at the academy. You really should be more involved in it, dearest” He ended, giving her a fond look.

Queen Alyssa sighed “I know Vyn.” She turned to the second male, who had deep purple hair and a matching set of eyes “Seriel, what do you think? Is there a chance I could make it to the academy
tomorrow?”.

King Seriel was quiet for a minute “the situation with the orcs and the goblins really can’t be put off any longer but I could convince Nerissa to postpone the audit report”. I watched in awe at the
smooth way she worked with her men, making it seem that while the final decision was up to her, she dearly valued their contributions. Mother used to say sometimes that she marveled at the way the supreme queen blended both her personal and official life- having almost her entire harem hold
important positions on her council- and yet there was a clear line she’d never gone over.

“Excellent” the monarch beamed “then, princess Lillian; I shall see you and the other princesses tomorrow”. Lillian bowed lowly, the humble smile on her face failing to mask the pride and smug
contentment in her eyes. Rosetta and I shared a look, instantly knowing what she was up to.

Once it gets out that Lillian had managed to invite the supreme queen, the students’ impression of
her will soar to the skies, just in time for the academy poll. I shrugged nonchalantly, if a popularity boost was all Lillian was counting on, she’d be sorely disappointed. Of course, she was the heroine, I doubted that was the only thing she was scheming. Still... I wasn’t planning on letting anyone else
attain the first position.

***********
I sighed as I got back into the carriage, Tyrion was doing well. Much better than he was two days ago and I was feeling relieved. We’d dropped Darius off earlier and now I was stuck in a carriage with my ‘sisters’ for the next day until we returned to the palace. I knew mother wouldn’t even hear of me
riding back alone, though we were sure after their queen had been punished the demons wouldn’t attack.

Lillian had remained smug and hadn’t stopped with her snarky remarks and Collette had clapped back every time, she was especially annoyed as they’d had a little altercation before we’d left the supreme queen’s palace. I paid no attention to either of them and focused on getting comfortable on mother’s lap.
That was until Lillian cleared her throat and leaned forward to get mother’s attention. “Mother” she started sweetly “I have something to say”. Mother closed the book she was currently reading before placing it on the space beside her, looking at Lillian expectantly.
