I decided to come to work the following day.
Napraning lang talaga ako kakaisip sa magiging sitwasyon pagkatapos mangyari ang elevator incident, pero napraning lang ako sa wala. I was just overthinking and over-reacting. Over.
Nagtrabaho kami ng boss ko na parang walang nangyari--dahil wala naman kasi talaga--at walang nagbanggit sa amin ng tungkol sa kagabi.
It was another quiet and busy day when both Sir Fred and Ma'am Mildred came storming in his office. Bago pa man sila makakatok sa office ni sir, hinarang ko muna. Pakabilin kasi sa akin ng boss ko wag na wag magpapasok hangga't hindi siya nai-inform.
"Ahm, Maam? Sir? What can I do for you?"
They stopped and both of them glared at me. "It's an emergency, Tiana. Please let us pass." Kalmado pero halatang galit na sabi sa akin ni Maam Mildred. "We need to talk to him."
"Yes, Miss Santillan. Let me pass so I can break his face—"
"Uhhm, one moment Maam, Sir." Mabilis kong binuksan yung pinto at sinilip si Sir. He was busy typing something habang nakakunot ang noo. I saw his dark eyes with annoyance at alam kong mas titindi iyon sa sasabihin ko. "Excuse me, Sir? Nandito po sina—" Hindi ko na natapos yung sasabihin ko noong pinilit ni Sir Fred na pumasok.
Sumunod rin naman agad si Maam Mildred.
"What the fuck is wrong with you, Tyrone? Anong ginawa mo?" Sigaw ni Sir Fred. Halatang nagpipigil siya na masaktan si boss. Dapat hindi ako nanonood pero hindi ako makaalis. "Why did you decide on your own without even telling us?"
Para namang kumalma na si Maam Mildred noong pagitnaan niya si Sir Fred at ang kanina pang tahimik kong boss. "Tyrone, you should have informed us about Casa Mendez. You know we need them badly, and other companies will surely use this open opportunity to get them instead! This was supposed to be a mutual decision—"
"I am telling you, we don't need that cheap resort—"
"Cheap?" Hindi pa rin kumakalma si Sir at hindi na bago sa akin ang pag-aaway nila. Mas magugulat pa nga ako kung makita ko silang tahimik na nag-uusap. "Casa Mendez is one of the grandest resorts right now and you let them go. Ang hirap naming kinausap ni Mildred si Mr. Mendez para lang makapag-offer ng magandang deal, and what did you do? Binalewala mo lang lahat ng pagod namin!"
Napatayo na si Sir sa inuupuan niya at hinamon si Sir Fred sa nakakamatay na tinginan. "Are you doubting me? I own fifty five percent of this goddamned company and I have the right to decide." Then he turned to Maam Mildred. "Mutual decision, you say? Ni hindi nga ako na-inform tungkol sa pag-offer niyo sa kanila! You should've told me about this!"
