I was awake before the light first cascaded over the mountains, flooding everything in it's path. While the birds were still asleep and the glowing bugs traced the stars in the sky. It was peaceful before the world awoke.
"You're up early," Toph said as she sat down beside me, resting her head gently on my shoulder.
"Yeah," I took a deep breath, listening to everything around me, "it's nice outside."
Toph hummed in response, grabbing hold of my hand and gently kissing it. "Maybe we should start sleeping with the windows open so I can keep you in our warm bed." Toph wasn't wrong, it was pretty chilly outside. I shivered in response, pulling her closer to me. Who needed our bed when we could keep each other warm.
As the first rays of sunlight began to peak into the sky I turned and looked at Toph. She was already fast asleep again, snoring lightly on my shoulder.
God I loved her.
