LAST

Sana stared at the boy infront of her with her eyes welled up.
The boy was again in the hospital but this time so worse, so worse. His face was bruised up, his eyes were swollen and there was a mirror piece on the side and his hands were all blooded.
Sana gulped as she treated the unconscious little boy.

Today was the last day of her internship, the last patient of her tenture. Today she would know if she made it or not. She didn't care if she didn't, her mind was right now about this boy who was lying infront of him.
She got him treated but even though she had to change and hear the results, she held the kids hand and sat there softly weeping.
Perks or um maybe not so perks of having a soft heart.

She softly rubbed his baby bruised hands remembering what the nurse told her about him. This boy was born out of wedlock, the father left the woman and because she didn't have money to abort she had to conceive. She was about to throw him but there was this government scheme for single mother for some income so she held on to him. But everyday she would drink and hit the boy and throw him out of the house in cold. He never ever ever experienced love, he never saw a full course meal, he never wore good clothes, he never had- had a name. The woman would hit him with the bottle until he would whimper under her and faint.  She would drag him by the collar and- stop stop- ( sana cried and whispered)

She stared at the boy with something bubbling in him.
She nervously tapped her foot thinking about this huge decision.
Sana who was a firm believer of signs closed her eyes and whispered universe one sign that I'm going on the right path regarding this.
She looked at the boy squirming in sleep with her heart a havoc.

Suddenly she heard a voice of a nurse saying- Congratulations! You have a boy now. You are mother of a little cute boy!
Her heart stopped.
Tears went streaming down her cheeks and she held her face and sobbed.
This was it. This is it. This whole thing was surely written and it's a huge sign from the universe for her to adopt him.
She got him and kissed his forehead softly and very carefully carressed his cheek and whispered my son.

Suddenly a nurse came in and said- Doctor Sana, Doctor Sid and the team is looking for you please go.
Sana nodded and got up, giving the boy a last soft kiss on his forehead she hugged her coat tightly and walked towards the interns room. She entered and already saw the atmosphere tense.

She didn't look up at Sid who had his dark gaze on her, she stood with her peers holding her hand tightly and thinking about the previous decision with a smile.
Her mind was somewhere else that she didn't pay attention to what Sid was saying.
Suddenly she heard claps, she too quickly clapped and saw Rahil looking at her weirdly.
Sana thought Rahil got the job and hes offended that she didn't wish him so she quickly started wishing him- I am so proud of you Rahil, I know you were so hard working-

Sid's voice cut her in- Ms GIll are you playing with us? You are the one who got selected.
Sana froze and stared at the man infront of her who looked at her with amusement dancing in his eyes.
Sana like a child pointed at herself and whispered- Me-Me?
Sid smiled and nodded.
Her heart started beating so fast with this weird happiness running through her veins.

She did it. She became a doctor. She did it.
Flashback
Sid turned and looked at sana- I am going to become a doctor.
Sana- Huh?
He smiled and her and walked away.
Sana looked up at the sky with a soft smile playing on her lips- Doctor. If it's meant to be, you would see me in the coat next to you sid.. if it's meant to be.

And hence, it was meant to be.

Sana shook hands with sid as he said- Ms gill has been working extra than anyone else, has been doing all her tasks into perfections and that's what we needed. Along with a hint of her crying for the patients.
Everyone chuckled while Sana pouted.
Sid- Give me your coat!
Sana held it tightly and said- What why? Hey! You just said I am now a full time doctor you can't-
Sid rolled his eyes and said- That was the internship one, I need to give you the new one bab- ahem ahem I mean miss gill.
Sana blushed at his slip out but nodded anyhow.
