Touka walked home, her soft, dark violet hair blowing through the wind. Strands of her hair ran across her face, slitting her vision. She didn't bother to wipe them away, though, for she was too preoccupied with her hand; the one she'd punched a wall into no less than an hour ago.
Touka sighed, inhaling the cheap air swiftly.

She couldn't help but think about the last hour's recent events, from her impromptu and very unexpected visit to Hide's, to the confession of hate made not only to Hide, but also to herself.

Her footsteps sounded loudly against the light concrete path, silence tying around her like bodily shackles. She could already feel the hot sting of her eyes as droplets of salted emotions trickled naively down her cheeks. Even her tears couldn't specify why she was crying.

She pulled her good hand from her side, bringing it to her cheeks and smearing her tears away.

The silence continued to linger as a single tree rustled deadly silent in the breeze. Continuing down the path she'd been down far too many times, Touka rounded the corner.

Only then did she notice the smoke rising high above the night sky, piercing the stale atmosphere like a thousand ukaku. Her eyes widened as she looked to the source, a corner building made of neutral colored plaster and brick.
She felt her heart drop to her stomach as the flames strangled Anteiku, infuriatingly growing higher with every millisecond that went by. The fingers of yellow and red danced together as Touka took in the full and very real scene.

Doves and members stood at the foot of the building and middle of the road. All their quinques were out, and lifeless objects were mercilessly scattered at their  feet. Stains of red smeared across every uniform, every flat surface, quinque, body. Touka looked to the limp bodies; there had to no way anyone was dead; they had to be alive. Touka caved in to the undying need to collapse, falling against a stick-like tree.
She couldn't stop staring at the horrible scene upfront of her, and she was glad that she hadn't been noticed yet.

Then, she heard yelling.

"Touka!"

She turned, immediately making eye contact with a mere three people.

Hinami, Nishiki and Yomo stared back at her, tears becoming evident on Touka's beet red cheeks, her eyes raw from weeping.

Touka's heart beat faster, and she couldn't help but run up to all three of them, squeezing them into a tight-fitting hug.

"Don't do that to me! I thought you had died!"

Touka screeched, the effort of her shouting tearing at the already raw insides of her throat.

Then, Yomo spoke.

"We need to get out of here. This isn't a safe place anymore."

Touka looked at him as she pulled away slowly, a look of almost disgust clear on her face.

"But everyone else-"

"Everyone else is dead, Touka. There was no time."

Touka's lower lip quivered.

"Now c'mon. Let's go."
