Miranda's pov

After hours of searching, I finally found Jason sitting on the steps of the museum. "Where the hell have you been?! I've been looking everywhere for you!! And you never answered your phone!!" I shout pissed. He jumped up caught off guard. "Sorry I lost my phone. I wasn't sure what to do so I just stayed here." "Lost your phone? Well where'd you have it last?" He shrugs. "We'll worry about it later. It ain't a big deal." We go back to the hotel. "What did you do while we were at the museum? See anything interesting?" He shrugs. "Not really. Just walked around. Busy place up here." He murmurs, laying on the couch and covering his face with his hat. He's acting odd. Parker yawned. I shrug off his weirdness and get our son ready for bed. "What pajamas do you want to wear, son?" I notice Jason look annoyed for some reason but it's gone instantly. What the crap is going on? Sweet Parker smiles and says a spell then suddenly his blue dinosaur PJs flash on him. I laugh softly. "You're getting the hang of this, aren't you Parker." I say, hugging the little boy. "I'm tired." He says, rubbing his eyes. "I bet you are. Let's head to bed."

Jason's pov

What the hell do I do?!! What's he going to do?!! Is my family in danger??! God I'm so scared. I shakily stand up, keeping a sharp eye on the mirror entrance. The dark room being the only thing I have other than this blue maze. Where do I go?! "Hello??" I call. It echoes back to me. "Is anybody else here??!!" I shakily fall to my knees horrified. I'm trapped. I'm trapped and alone while some bizarre copy of me is with my family!!! "This can't be happening!!" Suddenly I heard footsteps. And voices. There was a jumble. I couldn't understand any of it. Then a woman... A very familiar woman stood shakily a few feet away from me. "M-Miranda..." I shakily whisper, my hands shaking. "H-He r-really d-did it." She stutters. "He always s-said he'd g-get out and he... He really did." "What's going on? Where am I?" "You sw-switched places with your m-mirror self. This is the Mirror of R-Reversi. Everyone has a duplicate in this mirror. Mages and no m-mages." She's so scared. Why? "Why... Why are you... So afraid?" She stepped back, shaking slightly. I nervously stand up and her eyes went wide, fear as plain as day. "What's wrong? I need you to talk to me." I say, desperate. "Don't hurt me!" She cries backing up. "Why... I won't hurt you! I would never-" "Your mirror self is your opposite in every way." She shakily cries, closing her eyes and throwing her hands up, blocking her face. Shit. "Then that means..." I horrifiedly run back to the doorway. "No! I have to get out of here!! I have to save her!!!" "Y-You can't. Only your mirror self can." My duplicate is going to hurt her. He's going to be evil. "What's... He like? What's... He gonna do to... My..." Judging by how terrified this version of her is... He's got to be an abusive asshole psychopath. "He's too conniving to hurt her. He knows he'd get caught." She says, shocking me. I shakily turn around. She instantly looked frightful. "What's he going to do?" She looked too scared to say. "He's going to do something evil... Isn't he?" Again she doesn't respond. "He's going to hurt her!! I know he is!" I shout, grabbing her shoulders. "Dammit tell me what he's going to do!! Tell me what his plan is!!" She screams and runs away. Drat. How the hell do I get out?!!

Miranda's pov

I groggily woke up to Jason smiling confidently over me. "Let's go back to that museum." He says, grabbing my arm and pulling me up to a sitting position. "Ow! Jason!" "Oops." He says, backing up. "I thought you said it was boring." He looks away. "Did I? Oh well. I did find something interesting that I want to show you." I can't help but laugh. "I know all of the relics there. My dad took me every summer." He looked a little angry for some reason. "Whatever. Let's go again anyway. For fun." He heads for the bedroom door before I can protest. I was planning on seeing the empire state building. I wonder why he wants to go back. I'm so confused. He shouts our son's name. I instantly run for the door. "We're going out. Hurry up and get ready." What the fuck?! "Don't you yell at him like that!! What the heck is wrong with you?!" "I wasn't yelling! I'm just... In a good mood and don't want to waste time!" Shy is he acting so strange. "Jason, what do you want to show me at the museum?" I ask. He looks annoyed almost angry and heads for the door to our hotel room. "Meet me in the lobby." He gruffly mutters opening the door and walking out, slamming it. "What's going on with dad?" Parker asks, worried. "I don't know." I say, scared. "But I aim to find out. Parker you're 9 years old now. Do you think I can trust you to stay in this hotel room and not get into trouble?" I ask,  sitting my son on the couch. He looked frightened. "Since I have no clue what's going on. I want you to stay here where it's safe. If he comes back before I do, I want you to teleport to grandpa's house okay?" He hugs me scared. "I don't know if I can." "You have to be brave." I say, holding up his wand. "Tell me what the spell is." "Nomadica Grandpa's house." "You have to focus on grandpa's house okay. Keep that image in your mind when you say that spell okay?" He's so scared and it breaks my heart. "I love you." He says, hugging me. "I love you too, Parker always and forever. And daddy loves you too. I will figure out what's wrong and fix this. I always have." I say, trying to hide how worried I am. I hug him tightly then teleport to the lobby. "There you are! Where's Parker??" He annoyedly grumbles, crossing his arms. "He didn't want to come. Now what is it you wanted to show me." He looks extremely pissed off. "Whatever. I'll figure it out later. Come on." "Figure what out?" I gape, frustrated. He pulls out his wand and I was confused to see him using his left hand. He's always been a righty. He grabs my arm roughly and teleports us to the museum. "Why'd you use your left hand?" I ask, confused. "I'm ambidextrous." He mutters, annoyed. No he's not. He's never been! He walks to a doorway that says it's under construction. "What're you doing?" He smiles. But that smile isn't genuine. It has a strange sense of malice behind it. "You haven't seen everything in this museum." He shoves open the door and my stomach drops as my suspicions are confirmed. The Mirror of Reversi. This isn't my Jason. He grabs my wrist and drags me in the room. "No!" I cry horrified. "Baby!!" I see my Jason horrifiedly staring at me. "It isn't me!! I swear!" He shouts, pounding on the impenetrable doorway. The mirror version of my husband laughs. "She's figured it out stupid but it's too late. He shoves me at the mirror. I come face to face with my own duplicate. I horrifiedly fall through the mirror as she steps out. I hit the ground hard. "No!" I scream turning back around. The skittish mirror version of me stands nervously beside her husband. "We're finally free." He says, smirking. "Where's Parker?" She asks. "We'll just keep their version of him. It's not like he's old enough for it to matter." I'm horrified when he picks up a wet floor sign. "Now let's get rid of this stupid prison once and for all." Horror fills me as he raises it ready to smash the mirror when all of a sudden a piercing cry of,  "Mommy!" is heard. "Oh God no." Jason shakily says beside me. Our duplicates look to the doorway to see our son. "How convenient." He says. "Where's my mama and daddy?" At least he knows they aren't us. The other version of Jason smirks and points to the mirror. "Right in there." He says. "No! Parker don't come near the mirror!! Run away!!" Jason shouts, trying to break free. Our son looks terrified. "W-What... Did you do to them?" He shakily held his wand and pointed it at them. He laughed. "I'm sorry pip squeak. My Parker couldn't beat me... So you certainly can't either." My Jason looked enraged at that statement. The Parker from this world is probably traumatized from abuse. "DON'T TOUCH MY SON!!" He yells, pounding on the glass. Again the other Jason just laughs. He walks over to the mirror, catching me off guard. "Give me your wand." He says. "W-What?" My husband stutters shocked. "Give me your wand. You can do this the easy way or the hard way." He growls. "Why would I-" "Either you do as I say or I'll beat that little shitstain to a bloody pulp and steal his wand. Take your pick."

Jason's pov

Horror fills me. Parker looked so afraid and I hated it. What do I do?! "What do I do?!" I gasp, terrified. "I'm not patient. Hurry the fuck up?" My duplicate growls. The look in his eyes terrifies me. He'll do it. And he won't show mercy. I shakily take it out of my pocket. He smiles. Miranda's duplicate stood behind him. I was surprised to see she looked determined. Not afraid. "I'm sorry my love." She says and to my shock she shoves him forward. A look of pure astonishment fills his features as his arms instinctually shoot out to stop himself. In turn, I grab his arm and yank him inside as I frantically walk out. The duplicate of my girl grabs her out of the mirror and they switch places. I'm shocked. "Why... Why'd you-" "He couldn't be amongst your world. He would end up destroying it." My duplicate looked beyond hostile. Like he would kill her. "Thank you." I whisper, backing up and pulling my girl with me. That mirror version is one of the bravest people I've ever known. She just condemned herself to a lifetime of torture and abuse at the hands of a madman to save the rest of the world. I can't believe it. She looked at me solemnly as he grabbed her arm. Then she looked at the sign he was holding a moment before. I know what that look means. "She wants me.... To.... To smash the mirror." The girl smiles weakly, tears glistening in her eyes. "Daddy." Parker whimpers. I bite my lip worried. "Should I..." My girl who was silently crying, hugged Parker tightly. "I'm sorry." I whisper, swinging the sign with all my strength. The mirror shatters with a deafening crash. Then silence. I hug my small family, thankful to still be with them. That almost ended extremely horrible. "Let's go home." I shakily say, patting Parker's head. He smiles. "Glad to have you back, dad." The young boy says with a smile. "Glad to be back son." My tearful wife wipes her eyes and stands up. The weird thing is, they're supposed to be our polar opposites. But both girls are extraordinarily brave. I guess that's just the fascinations of the universe. Some things can't be explained. We walk out of that museum and I teleport us home to Tennessee. That's enough adventure for one lifetime. We walk inside and I can't help but feel a sense of peace.
