Sam and I were both staring at a small hole in the ground, then shared a worried look.

"Looking for this?" Dean asked, walking up holding Death's ring.

"Just taking a walk," Sam replied.

"Sam. I'm your brother. I'm not going to let you get hurt. I know what I'm doing here."

"What if you're wrong?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

"I won't let it go wrong."

"Fine," Sam agreed.

"Fine?" Dean repeated. "So, you're-"

"So, I'm trusting you. Barely."

"You sure?"

"You're the one with the compass here, right? Just don't mess it up. Besides, I don't think I'm really the one you need to convince."

They both looked at me.

"Ellie-" Dean began.

"Grim... He can really help Sam?"

"He says he can."

"And this is really the only way?"

Dean just stared back at me with a sorry expression, like he'd give anything for there to be another answer.

"Okie dokie. Just come back to me in one piece, alright?"

"I promise."

He pulled me in to him, pressing his lips to mine before pulling back.

"Watch him," he nodded at Sam.

I nodded and Sam and I headed back into the house, leaving Dean alone to do... whatever was going to happen when he put on that ring. Maddie had come out from wherever she'd been hiding and was playing on the floor next to Bobby's desk while he looked through some book.

"Mommy!"

She jumped up and ran over to me.

"Why are you crying?"

I swallowed the lump in my throat as Bobby and Sam both stared at me and the young girl, trying to come up with an answer for her.

"Are you sad?" Maddie pressed.

"No, Maddie, I'm not sad," I shook my head. "Want to help me with something?"

The toddler nodded her head enthusiastically, and I carried her upstairs so I could tell her away from Sam and Bobby. I wanted them to know, but I wanted to wait until I'd told Dean and Sam had his soul back to do it.

"Okay," I said, setting Maddie down on the bed in Dean and my room. "This is a surprise for Daddy, so you have to keep it a secret, okay darling?"

"I can't tell Grampa Bobby?"

"Not yet. Can you do that?"

"Okay."

Taking a deep breath, I crouched down to look my daughter in the eyes.

"Maddie, you're going to be a big sister."

"What?"

"Mommy is having another baby. You get to have a baby brother."

Maddie's green eyes lit up excitedly at the news.

"We gonna tell Daddy?"

"Yeah, we're gonna tell Daddy when he gets back," I nodded. "Want to help me tell him?"

"Yes!"

"Okay, let's get to work."
